Archiving locally encountered the following errors for X images. Invalid destination.

Hi,

Looking for some advice on the following errors when trying to archive to a local folder please.

Screenshot 2025-10-07 131109.png
Archiving locally encountered the following errors for X images. Invalid destination.

I have multiple drives both SSD and HDD mounted to my PC that I've tried to archive too, all failing with the above error. Locations have more than sufficient storage space. I have formatted the drive, and have tried creating folders in Lightroom and Windows Explorer to archive too, both not working. I have tried reinstalling previous versions of Lightroom, this also hasn't worked. I have tried using an external HDD and nothing has worked so far.

It did work previously, and now it doesn't. Nothing hasn't changed so I'm unsure what might be causing the issue. Is anyone else having the same issue?

Any suggestions or workarounds welcome. Thank you.

Hey, @cwilliams1997. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more information to help you figure this out.

Please share the system info from Lightroom Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

Has this started since a recent update? Have you changed your operating system's default folders to customized locations on other drives?

Does this happen with images imported recently? Also, before archiving an album, right-click on the Album > Select 'Make Album Available Offline' & try archiving to the internal drive only.

Let me know if this helps. Thanks!

Hi @Sameer K ,

Thank you for reaching out. I have attached system information as requested.

The default folder locations haven't changed, I'm just trying to archive to a spare HDD I've got installed to free up space on the cloud. Anything previous to 2025 seems to have archived fine, but anything this year doesn't work when trying to archive the folder structure.

Oddly when I 'Make Album Available Offline' & try archiving the album that seems to work, but it still fails if I am trying to archive the cloud album structure.

Thanks for sharing the system info and the updates. I'm glad to know it works in one way. Please confirm if you have sufficient storage on the internal drive, mainly the C drive and the destination drive. Also, I just tried a few folders, and it worked as expected.

Do any of your folders contain videos? Do you have any browser plugins, antivirus software, or cache management applications that can interfere with how Lightroom connects to the Internet, manages its caches, or interacts with your computer storage?

Let me know how it goes if you temporarily disable this.

Thanks!
