On a phone it's fine, on a large tablet it starts to fall apart. On a large 4k screen the compression artifacts are just horrible.
I use the tablet and the big screen to show other people photos, so the poor quality really isn't that great.
Everything else looks good, full screen view of a single photo, album cover thumbnails. Only the grid view is bad, I found threads where people complained about it a few years ago. Now the hardware has made a lot of progress, so I think a high resolution mode shouldn't be a problem.
This is not the worst example, but somewhere in the middle, other photo subjects look worse, especially portraits.

No one bothered by this when showing stuff to clients on a tablet or big screen?

If you choose to ' Store Album Locally' then do they view better? This will download all the Originals from the Cloud that are in that Album, plus will take up more space on the device.
Or you could try to download each Original separately accessing that image, then tapping on the Cloud icon and selecting 'Get This Original'.

I'm allready using store locally and it was storing the originals. Images look fine, even smartpreviews, it's just the thumbnails.
