Overexposed/clipped sections of the image should show red. Actual result:
No clipping indication is visible. It also does not work for blacks or shadows. If the profile Adobe Color or "Camera Classic Chrome" is selected then red or blue clipping indication works as expected.
I believe this is 'as designed' for such a profile, and the explanation is as follows. Certain profiles can limit the highlights to a value lower than absolute white (and shadows to above absolute black). In that case you will never see clipping warnings because you can never reach pure white, no matter how much you over-expose.
Thank you for your reply! I understand, and this is a reasonable explanation, but that means that clippiing still occurs, but not at absolute white. In my opinion, Lightroom then should map the clipping indication to the maximum of a certain profile, or let the user set their own limits.
Yes, that would be nice, but because this is a niche option, I don't expect Adobe to do this. They have other priorities. You can still see clipping if you look at the histogram. Clipping shows as an abrupt peak on the left or the right of the histogram, with noting beyond that peak.
