Copyright not populated when loading to Local Files

Lightroom: 7.2

Platform: Mac Mini

macOS: 14.4.1

Using Local Files:

When importing photos to local files, the Copyright is not being populated. Is this expected behavior? I can slect all the files and populated by hand after the fact, but its much easier to have it populated automatically.

I can't speak for Adobe, but personally what you describe is expected behaviour. Technically, when you load images in the Local mode from a memory card you are not importing them, you are simply "saving" them, i.e. copying them from card to disk. Import actions, such as adding copyright or using non-default develop settings (i.e. Camera Settings) would not be applied in Local mode. However, I would expect them to be applied if you then choose to copy a local image to the cloud....and in fact that is what happens.

I understand. I don't necesssarily agree, but I get the point. From working in the computer industry for 35+ years, I know it wouldn't be hard to fetch that Copyright value from the cloud and apply it during the save. And as you say it take place when saved to the cloud.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
