Endless moving photos process

New Here ,
Sep 13, 2025 Sep 13, 2025

So I wanted to move my library from one drive to another on my Mac (Mac mini M2 Pro, Sequoia 15.6.1) , and decided to let Lr do the moving. Since I have nearly a TB of images, there were a few times where I used the "Stop Until Next Launch" button which worked as expected, until the last time. Now I have it saying it's moving 0 of 261 photos, and it's been saying that for days, and it's persistent even after reboots.

I used Chronosync to copy the remaining items to the new location, but every time I start Lr it wants to copy them.

Anyone know how can I get it to stop?

Thanks!

Steve

Hey, @swduncan. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out. This must be frustrating.

Try these suggestions:

  • Ensure Lightroom has the required permissions on macOS: macOS:https://adobe.ly/3WfrQf2
  • Log on to Lightroom Web (https://adobe.ly/3XVZmIp) and ensure everything is synced and backed up before proceeding.
  • Choose Go > Go To Folder in the Finder window and type ~/pictures. Locate a bundle named Lightroom Library.lrlibrary.
  • Right-click or control-click this bundle and choose Show Package Contents. You'll find a folder inside it with a long cryptic string of numbers and letters (for example: d1a4f88d2b534c7d91022136fd182532). Open that folder.
  • In the folder, move out all the files named Managed Catalog.[anything] to the Mac's desktop.
  • Launch Lightroom.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
