Failed to load development version in LR mobile

New Here ,
Jun 04, 2018 Jun 04, 2018

I was able to edit photos fine (offline as well) without any issues until I subscribed a few days ago. I have tried toggling the "Store Locally" option hoping that it would speed up the loading (the spinning wheel each time I open a photo). This did not work. In addition, I turned on Airplane mode in my phone and tried editing, expecting that it would let me edit my photos as I have "stored them locally" but it prompts the error "Failed to load development version"

Can anyone please help me with this?

I figured it out! I got the messages after I changes the location of where my photos saved. I changed it to saving on my SD Card  which caused me to get the message. Change the setting back and it'll work!

I have the same issue. I logged out to recover my photos and when I logged in, I lost all my edits, but recovered photos from years ago that I don't need. This happened after I updated my phone's OS. I was able to import and edit photos after that, but it happened again, the "Failed to load development version" message. I have a Huawei P30 Lite, Lightroom version 7.5.1. Hope you can help me.

@Sofía26753855g59g

Does it help to update to LR Android 8.0?  I know LR iOS better than Android, and hope someone else more knowledgeable about your platform might offer additional help if needed

Updating the app should not cause presets to disappear.  Did you possibly re-install the app as a free user?  If so, deleting the app probably deleted your presets too.  Paid users see their presets sync'd to cloud storage for backup and easy access on any device.

Check out the troubleshooting on this page: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/using/lost-photos-presets-lightroom-mobile.html

@Raja267633225v4h

If you didn't delete and reinstall the app, is it possible that you signed out and then sign back in with a different email ID (or used Apple instead of Google login, etc)?  If so, your presets may be in your original account.

Other than this, I can't think of any reason for you presets to disappear just from updating the app.  And the only other help I can suggest is to restore a backup of your phone from a time when all your presets still showed inside the app.  I do hope you find them, or are able to reimport or recreate them!

Hi @Elle25883913okpr

What device & operating system are you seeing this on?  If you are paid user, and your images are fully synced, does it help if you re-install the app?

Hello @mystical_sudarshan

I saw from your separate message that you are a Lightroom Android user.  Does this note from another LR Android user apply to you?  If so, does changing your photo storage location back to default settings fix this problem?

"I got the messages after I changed the location of where my photos saved. I changed it to saving on my SD Card which caused me to get the message. Change the setting back and it'll work!"

It seems like LR doesn't support heic formats transferred from iPhones but I wonder whether it's the problem with LR or it's my Android which couldn't handle the heic images from iphones

Hello @mohamed34382168fl1u

Can you elaborate on what camera your HEIC images come from, and what specific Android device and OS version you use?  And also, please describe how you import them, on what device?

I work on the Lightroom iOS product team, and iOS produces HEIC images that I always see smoothly import into LR Android in my experience.

I'm trying to understand which version of Lightroom is having trouble importing HEIC images?  If HEIC images do not display on your Android device Gallery app, then maybe LR Android 'Device' tab (which is a view of your camera roll) might also have difficulties displaying those images... at least until you full import the image.  After importing, Adobe Camera Raw technology built into Lightroom should have no trouble displaying any HEIC image.

If you could share a sample file, and maybe also a screen recording showing your workflow and where/how the problem occurs, that might help us understand what you're seeing.

The Lightroom version is 9.1.1

If the issue is the same, we will merge you back into the appropriate location.
