Filtering by additional metadata ie resolution

Explorer ,
Nov 15, 2018 Nov 15, 2018

I have a few 1000 photos where I have a mixture of combinations of
- B&W images
- Low resolution copies
- Full resolution copies

What support is there for filtering in Lightroom CC?

I can filter by tag, camera, person, but it's pretty limited. No ability to filter/search by resolution? or other properties?

Digital images don't have resolution per se. All they have is pixel dimensions. For instance, I work with a 24 MP camera, and the images are 4000 x 6000 pixels regardless of whether the resolution or PPI is set to 72 PPI or 300 PPI or what ever. The image has 4000 x 6000 pixels. What other properties are you looking to filter on?

A search on pixel dimensions then...

Specifically I have images that are
- 600x400- 5572x3715 (colour)

- 5572x3715 (B&W)

For ranking, editing, deciding which to print for christmas gifts, I want to eliminate the 600x400 for a start, and probably the B&W (as I'd do my own conversion). I had 'assumed' this would be trivial so all were imported. There's about 1500 photos in total, so manual sorting is a bit painful.

I could just go back to the original pre-import files (which I tend to keep for a while) and import into a new catalogue - or a completely different tool, since I can use the OS to do the filtering - size, or metadata. But it seems crazy the specialist photo tool won't let me do this. I'm hoping I'm missing something obvious.

I only have lightroom cc, not classic - I moved about a year and a half ago, never using lightroom that much, but seeing value in a service I could do ranking, sorting, corrections on FROM ANY DEVICE (I use phone, desktop, surface, macos... though have to jump around the silly 3 device thing), but it seems each time I try and do something it's harder than I'd expected. Still trying to work out what other alternatives there might be.

The metadata (dimensions) do appear on the UI, so I'm kinda hoping there's a search expression of some kind that can be used. No problems with lack of GUI to make for easy dropdowns, just a search string would be fine (gimme the sql!)

It is possible to use facets in the search bar. Unfortunately cropped dimensions is not yet one of them. Note you must add the colon and not press return.
