How do I custom sort photos in Lightroom Ver 8.2?
I explored the tutorials but it does not explain custom sorting.

Hey, @RST1851. Welcome to the Adobe Community! 😊 I'll help you get started with Sorting and filtering in Lightroom.
Custom ordering is unavailable in All Photos, but you can find this option when importing albums into the Grids (Photo grid & Square Grid you make in Lightroom.
Here is how it works:
1 - Grid View: Ensure you're in the Grid view by pressing G.
2 - At the bottom toolbar, find the sort options.
3 - Select Custom Order to Drag and Drop: Click and drag your photos to arrange them in your desired order. You'll see a highlighted space where the photo will be placed.
4 - Lightroom will automatically save this custom order for you.

Thanks for the info. However, I wasn't able to figure out how to create an "Album". Thus, I decided to return to Lightroom Classic which allows me to custom order photos without going through the added step of creating an Album.

Dear @Sameer K,
Thank you for getting back to me. However, I've not been able to figure out
how to create an "Album" to get the Custom Order option.
So, I've decided to return to Lightroom Classic, which allows me to create
Custom Orders without creating an album. Lightroom Classic, for me, is
more user-friendly and saves steps. Nothing against the new Lightroom, but
the older version is what I've grown accustomed to.
Best,
Steve

Hey @RST1851,
You can create an album using the "+" icon to the right of the Albums/Shared space in Lightroom. Here is an article on how to do this: https://adobe.ly/3EnfLOF
