How to disable Lightroom Mobile?

New Here ,
May 04, 2014 May 04, 2014

I don't want to use Lightroom Mobile. Every time when i start Lightroom the "getting started windows" of Lightroom Mobile pops up. Any idea how to permanently disable Lightroom Mobile and/or getting rid of the annoying gettting started window?

I had the exact same problem.

This fixed it for me Lightroom 6.3 on Mac:

Click on upper left ; Lightroom

Identity Plate setup

choose soemthing else besides Mobile

enjoy

I was registered with Adobe so I logged in - from the upper left corner of the Lightroom panel. I'm using LR6.0 standalone (not CC). Once I logged in to adobe I was able to pause Lightroom Mobile - and the message disappeared after I logged out. It didn't reappear after I logged out of LR. I haven't rebooted and tried but I'm expecting that the screen is gone.

I got rid of it by going to "Lightroom" menu > "Preferences" > "Lightroom mobile" > "options" and remove the flag from "Prevent system sleep during sync".

It seems impossible. No doubt this will be fixed as quickly as all the other bugs! The regular updates to Creative Cloud have not delivered the bug fixes as promised Adobe!

There's no bug. Sign in to your account, then switch sync off in the Identity Panel or in Preferences > Mobile.

John - thanks for your reply but this doesn't seem to have any effect. Every time I create a new catalog it still takes me through the syncing question ("Take your Lightroom everywhere") and cursor animation.

Stay signed in.

My understanding is that once you have signed in, Adobe's servers mark the current catalogue as the one that is synced for your account. You can then forget about it, if you want. When you create new catalogues with your account active, you are still signed in and Adobe's server recognises you already have a synced catalogue.

You don't have the Preference for "Store Presets with this catalog" enabled, do you?

That only works for the currently opened catalog. When creating a New catalog you always get the prompt to start LR Mobile.

LR Mobile with new catalog..PNG

I only use one catalog for all my images so I never see this screen. But if you are someone that uses multiple catalogs, Not a good idea, then you always have to deal with it.

This is what the OP is talking about.

I don't use LR Mobile at all and I also wish it could be completely disabled. It can't.

Normally, I only use one catalogue too, and this one is synced, but I often create catalogues on PC and Mac for a variety of purposes like testing plugins or workflows. I never get that dialog, and I think it's for the reasons I outlined above.

I don't have that preference enabled, but might it be responsible?

I think you don't get this screen/dialog because you are using LR Mobile. No need to ask you to sync up a collection from your new catalog because you already sync up one from some other catalog.

You can only sync collections from one catalog.

If that's true, all you would need to do is sync from some other catalogue, one you never use again, and maybe switch off sync in it. I don't see why you would even need to sync anything, but have you tried that?

Not really. When LR Mobile was introduces I gave it a try with the same catalog I have been using for years. Tried it, didn't care for it and stopped using it. Deleted all content, uninstalled from my phone and turned it off in LR computer version. I still get that screen.

Then enable it in your catalogue, and then see if you get the screen when creating a new catalogue. And it has developed a lot since it was first introduced.

That is not the point. The point of the original post was to Disable LR mobile completely. You can't as has been proven by the OP and by me "When you are creating a New Catalog".

I have no desire to enable LR Mobile for any reason and certainly not to test.

Thanks.

If you aren't willing to point Adobe's servers to a catalogue it should sync, you're probably going to continue to get that message and be unable to help the OP.

John - thanks very much for your reply. I think I am always signed in to the server. The help menu always shows my ID and the option to sign out. I've tried having it sync one catalog and then turning sync off. I don't get the prompt and animation with existing catalogs, but it always occurs when I create a new catalog (usually one per day).

What if you leave sync off in that catalogue? You shouldn't then get the prompt in new catalogues (though maybe ask yourself if you need to create one a day?).

I tried leaving the sync off in that catalog but it still occurs for new catalogs. Fair question about the catalogs. These are for client galleries using off the camera jpegs. I think it may be caused by using jpegs instead of the raw files, but I found that if I have too many images the images in the web galleries tend to corrupt, so I have found a new catalog for every job seems to solve that problem.

John what you are failing to realize is your situation is different than the OPs and mine.

You actively sync a collection with LR Mobile. So when you create a new catalog, because you are already syncing a collection from some other catalog, you don't get the "Sync with LR Mobile" prompt.

We have been over this before. No matter whether you Sign in, Are Signed In, Stay Signed In, Pause/Stop any syncing with LR Mobile, "IF" you are not actively syncing a collection from a catalog with LR Mobile you get that prompt when you create a New Catalog.

The OP is asking how to TOTALLY DISABLE LR Mobile. You can't, It can't be.

Sorry mattg you are going to have to live with that prompt screen or stop creating so many catalog and start using one catalog and Keywords and Collections, along with separate folders for clients by date of shoot, to separate images.

I have no idea why you can't separate images in your Web Gallery without having to create a catalog a day in LR.

I create catalogues all the time because I have many clients, and I archive the catalog off along with their work. I can't have monolithic catalogues. It doesn't work for me. So why can't adobe make SW that works with their client's work flow, rather than shoving this mobile synch garbage down our throats. I shouldn't have to disable it every damn time I open/create a new catalog, or every time i open a catalog. It's pushy, annoying and says that Abode is more interested in pushing services we don't want that providing SW that works for us.

Is this question still not answered? I'm getting sick and tired of that nag message to sign into Lightroom Mobile. I don't want it. I have no intention of using it, and it appears this can't be disabled.

I want no part of this service. I have a billion photos and I'm not even going to begin to try and sync any of my catalogs. How do I make this go away?

I answered this question with the best solution.

Create a Dummy Catalog. When that prompt shows up sign in to LR Mobile and link a Dummy collection in the dummy catalog. The collection doesn't have to have any images in it. Once you set that up and never sign out of LR mobile the prompts will stop. You don't need LR mobile on any mobile device

Also why are you always creating catalogs. The only time that prompt comes up is when you create a new catalog.

Why hasn't Adobe chimed in on this.  This is so annoying.  And then they want you to buy CC.  But they can't even fix this.
