I'm trying to figure out how to delete photos from the Lightroom mobile app, without it deleting the original from my phones camera roll. Everytime I go to delete a photo that I've given Lightroom access to from the app, it deletes the original from my camera roll and I have to restore it from the trash.
I do not have anything synced to the cloud, this is all done on device.
Note: I'm on the latest version on ios. (iphone)
Lightroom Mobile shouldn't delete photos from the Camera Roll without the user prompting this.
It sounds like you are deleting from the Device Tab (bottom left), this will delete from the Camera Roll, although you may get a message to warn you.
If you are on the LIghtroom Tab (bottom middle) then this is deleting from within the Lightroom App (and cloud if you have it syncing) and will not affect the Camera Roll.

I don't understand. Lightroom does not automatically delete images from the camera roll. The only possibility is for users to manually select images in the Device tab and then purposely select Delete.
I think what is happening is that after import, you are taken to the Edits tab where images you have imported or edited in Lightroom are displayed. Tap the down arrow at the top left of the Edits tab, and you will see a list of albums inside Lightroom like All photos, My edits, Imports, etc. These are images you have brought into the app.
If you tap on the Device tab, and then choose "Recents" from the dropdown menu, you should see all your camera roll items. If you are not seeing everything that truly exists on your camera roll, then go into iOS Settings > Lightroom > Photos and choose "Full Access" to allow the app to display and import all files on your camera roll.

If this didn't quite address your issue, please write back and let us know. Attaching a screen recording might help us better understand the problem you have in the app.

Thank you! I think this solved my problem. I was getting the warning message, but couldn't find any other alternative for deletion that was also clear in it's motives.

In the other direction, does deleting photos from the gallery delete them from Lightroom? I edit my photos in Lightroom Classic, which then syncs with Lightroom Mobile. Because of this I have no need for the many photos in the gallery, and they are just taking up space. I want to delete all photos I have deleted using Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Mobile from the Camera Roll, but I don't want to do this if I might lose them in Lightroom Mobile.
I hope that made sense.
