Import pics from SD Card to LR CC on iPad

Using my iPad, is it possible to import photos directly into LR CC from an SD card?

No, it's an iOS limitation - they have to go through Photos

I suspect my goals are different than most.  I would like to go 100% iPad.  I love the portability, small form factor and great screen. 

I have not gone from Apple Photos to LR CC.  IS there any quality degradation?

No, quality is fine. LR pulls in the originals from the Photos app. I often travel iPad-only, and import my camera photos through Photos into LR. It's just an extra step in the workflow, that's all.
