Intel GPU Selected Instead of Nvidia GPU

New Here ,
May 06, 2025 May 06, 2025

On an Alienware x15 with a GTX 5080 the Intel GPU is selected on Lightroom start and even disabling the device in Windows doesn't make it select the correct one. We have tried every Nvidia setting.

Hey, @Captivating_Gem3632. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Your machine has two GPUs: the power-saving Intel Graphics and the high-performance Nvidia RTX 5080.

The OS decides what GPU to use depending on how the laptop is plugged in or on its battery life.

If you've already set up the Nvidia GPU as the default for Lightroom through the Nvidia control panel. Try the step shared here to configure the default GPU for Lightroom: https://adobe.ly/49YQSCI

The GPU info & Logs location on Windows is %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw. A shortcut to get to this folder on Windows is:

  • Press the Windows + R
  • Enter %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw

  • Rename the GPU & Logs folder in this directory by adding .old at the end. (GPU.old & Logs.old)
  • Launch Lightroom again.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
