NOT a dumb question!  Blame Adobe for their bad decision to name 'new' software the same as 'old established' software.

To explain see-

COMPARE LR & LR-CLASSIC (Lr Queen)

Also the "CC" suffix (Creative CLoud) has been removed from all Adobe software names. All Adobe software requres Creative Cloud.

Even Adobe are confused- They have not removed the "CC" from some of their own web pages.!!

https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom-classic/lightroom-cc-vs-lightroom-classic.html

Most people "in the know" now always refer to Lightroom-CLASSIC as specifically Lightroom-CLASSIC (LrC).

The best Plan to subscribe is at- $9.99 PHOTOGRAPHY PLAN (USA)

I have a similar question. i have both Lightroom and Ligthroom CC, i have imported photos into both. I have my photos in different locations, hardrive, dropbox, icloud, camera cards, etc.

I would like to consolidate all my photos ( over 5k) and use Lightroom  to organize.

I can think of two options, but there may be more. Option 1: get an external drive and consolidate all my photos on that drive and then use Lightroom CC to manage, or Option 2: move all photos to the cloud and use lighroom to manage.

The main problem i have in using lighroom CC now, is the program will try to locate the image but seems very slow in locating photos that are not on my hardrive.

THanks for any recommendations.

"i have both Lightroom and Ligthroom CC"

You see- here is the problem- "Lightroom CC" is a name no longer used. Except for a myriad of online tutorials and youtube, etc.

The only way to correctly identify the Apps is by the Version NUMBER.

So is that -

A) Lightroom 10.4  (correctly called Lightroom-CLASSIC)

B) Lightroom 6.14  (The first ever Lightroom 'Standalone' from v1,2,3,4,5,6)  No longer available!

C) Lightroom 4.4   (The Desktop PC/Mac version of Lightroom-MOBILE)

D) Lightroom 6.0   (The MOBILE version of Lightroom on a mobile device- iPhone iPad etc)

Even I have difficulty describing! 🙂

If you want to keep all you photos 'Locally' on local hard-drives- the only option is A) LIGHTROOM-CLASSIC v10.4 in the PHOTOGRAPHY PLAN (20GB) $9.99 PHOTOGRAPHY PLAN (USA)

If you want your photos stored in the Adobe Cloud eco-system- the options are C) + D) in the LIGHTROOM PLAN (1TB). ! LIGHTROOM for PC or Mac

So decide how you want to go forward, with which App, then ask the question again- How to Consolidate!
