Lightroom Mobile Photos Gone

Today I went to check my Lightroom Mobile photos synced to the Adobe cloud but couldn't get the Mac app to connect (it continuously said "waiting for connection"). I went to my iPad to check the photos from there and it told me I had no collections. I went over to my iPhone's LR Mobile app and when it first opened, all of my collections were there. Then it went to a loading screen and when it came back it said I had no collections. I had hundreds of pictures synced to the cloud so this is both incredibly frustrating and terrifying. Is this just a connection issue or did all of my photos some how get deleted?

Did you connect a new Lr Desktop catalog to your account? Since Lr Mobile currently only supports one catalog at a time the previous connected catalog will be purged. In that case you should have recieved a caution allert within Lr Desktop. - Guido

I used the iTunes method you suggest. But I am just able to see saturday’s Photos in the originals file. I couldn’t see any of the photos that I’ve taken in Friday.

I do not see any photos taken on February 2 in your account.  I assume that you also did not see those photos on lightroom.adobe.com - can you confirm?

Did you take those photos with Lightroom?

One more question here:

Is it possible that you closed the Sign-in dialog via the top left x-icon after signing out?

Peter, I have a somewhat similar issue. I had Lightroom CC and CC Classic installed and opened up Lightroom CC Classic. I had intended to migrate only to CC 2018, but then I realized the new Lightroom had no way to export photos for offline storage (the 100GB limit is something I need to share with other media for now and I don't need every one of my photos in the cloud as a lot of them are one-time use). So while I had paused the sync in Lightroom Classic and removed the folder, I returned to it and told it to sync again. This process ended up wiping out a bunch of older photos associated with my account. Is there any way to recover them? Thankfully, some of them were in the Files option in iTunes, but some from February, May, and November of last year were not in there.

Gary,

Sorry to hear about your issue.  Can you give more details around what you did when you "removed the folder?"

Where did the missing files originate?

To see if they are available in the cloud, please login to lightroom.adobe.com and view your account, including "All Photos".  That will fairly accurately show what files are available in the cloud.

It's possible that your photos are on your desktop.  You can try to locate them using the following:

How to find missing photos in Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC

Or, if they are files originally imported from mobile, see if they are available in your "Mobile Downloads.lrdata" folder on your desktop.

Let me know what you find, and if you can provide some more details, it would help us understand the issue more completely.

I have looked into everything that you suggested. The Lightroom web app shows exactly what I see in Lightroom CC. There is no "Mobile Downloads.lrdata" folder that is on my desktop, nor has there ever been a "Mobile Downloads.lrdata" on my desktop ever.

Here is what I did:

I stopped Sync in Lightroom Classic CC and clicked "Remove Folder" on the "Mobile" folder I was using for Mobile syncing.

Then I quit Lightroom Classic CC and went back into Lightroom CC. I was going to try to backup what I was done with and then remove the album from the cloud. However, Lightroom CC does not allow this. So I went back into Lightroom Classic CC, created a new folder "LightroomCC" and set it to be the location for sync. Then I re-enabled syncing. Everything came back down except for selected photos that I had taken with my iPhone via the Lightroom app. These are gone. The albums on Lightroom CC now show as empty. These photos were from last year and this year, but not everything is missing, so that's very odd.

Hi Gary,

When you said you removed the folder  ? What did you do exactly ?

1) Removed it from Lightroom Classic: In the library module, Under the folders panel, did you remove the folder? If yes, did your synced images that were a part of this folder was removed from the catalog ?

If this is the case, your Lightroom CC and Lightroom Web will be showing the same, as the synced images are removed from cloud.

However, this will not remove the folder and the images present in the file system. You can again reimport them from the original location to the catalog and enable sync

2) Removed it from the machine : When you remove the folder outside of Lightroom (in the file system), then you can see "Photo is missing " error in Lightroom Classic. If this is the case, you can create a new catalog and enable sync on that, so that all the images in the cloud are downloaded to your newer catalog.

Thanks,

Arjun

I removed the folder from Lightroom Classic. I right-clicked on the folder I named "Mobile" and left-clicked on "Remove". I don't recall what I did directly after that. Usually I will trash the folder from the drive, but I haven't emptied the trash and it's not in there. However, that folder no longer exists on the drive.

So when you removed the folder from Classic, it directly removes the linkage between the folder and images in the catalog. Therefore you neither see the images nor the folder in the catalog.

As a result, the synced images that were a part of this folder has also been removed from the cloud.

Only the new images synced from now on (through other clients like Lightroom CC , Web etc.,), will be downloaded to your new folder that you have set (mobile downloads location) in Lightroom Classic CC.

Hi,

I was using Lightroom Mobile CC for the past 2 days on the 17th and 18th of MAY 2018, taking tons of photos and had to re log into my iphone as i had to switch out the sim card for overseas use. This ended up logging me out of my lightroom CC. However when i logged back in all the photos for those few days had totally disappeared. I have at least a hundred precious photos taken over those 2 days and would desperately like to attempt to get them back.

I have already attempted the file sharing method. And i only have one adobe id which i am using.

PLEASE HELP ME GET MY PHOTOS BACK

I WILL GET YOU WHATEVER INFORMATION YOU NEED.

Thanks

Adil

Hi Adil,

Sorry about your photos missing, I've passed this on to our team to investigate what is going on there.

A couple questions

  • Are you sure you logged back in with the same/correct account?
  • If you log into that account to lightroom.adobe.com are your images shown there?

Let us know about the above when you can.

Regards,

Pete

Hi,

I believe the same issue has happened to me. Was using the free version of Lightroom CC on my Galaxy s9 with more than 50 edits in my gallery. Decided to upgrade to premium because I wanted the paid features, and then around 3 hours later, I opened lightroom again only to find out that all my photos are gone. Tried checking the web version of Lightroom but they were not there either. Any help? I have a feeling this is due to the cloud syncing feature that comes with the premium subscription.

Any Help?

Hi - A few days ago, this exact same situation happened to me. I was using the free version of the Lightroom CC app on my mobile phone (Blackberry KeyOne), and decided to upgrade for the additional features. Even after upgrading and using the additional tools to edit my photos, about 20 minutes later all my previously edited photos and albums went missing. Seems like it immediately happened after syncing.

I travel quite a bit and use the app to edit photos on the fly, along with logging extensive notes in the app about my travels. I tried contacting Adobe support through chat as I was traveling, but they were completely unhelpful. The photos are also not appearing on the web version either.

I've spent hours editing these photos and organizing them meticulously, and I am really disheartened if they are permanently gone. Could someone please help? Was anyone's similar issue resolved? Thanks for any help.

I am a Lightroom CC Mobile user (trial ended ages ago and ahve just used the app ever since) my problem is as follows...

I was trying to edit some photos from a recent trip and when doing so the App would say "Failed to load development version". I have had this issue before and was resolved by logging in and out of the app, as instructed by AdobeCare. So I done this.

On logging back in half my photos have completely dissapeared and the 300 or so that it says are stored within I cannot view at all. The grid appears but no images and when I attempt to click on any of them I get the same "Failed to load development version" message

How can I get my photos back and also remove this image on the ones that "appear" to be there.

Im using Android platform
