Lightroom won't let me edit from SD card, will only let me import them

Lightroom is seeing and reading my SD card. However I'm not able to edit the photo at all from the card. I can only choose to import them some where else. I know for sure I was able to edit photos directly from the SD card in the past; I'm not sure what I'm missing.

That is generally to be expected. Lightroom (Mobile) works with images you have imported to the Lightroom (Cloud) catalog, however-

On a PC you can choose the "Local" mode to edit photos locally stored- It works for USB sticks but I haven't tested with an SD card.  It would make good sense to copy them onto a local internal drive and not use the SD card.

I have the same issue, on one of my Mac I can edit from the SD card, on my other devices it doesn't work
