For the last 5 hours Ive been trying to get LR v5.5 to open on Win 10.  I have plenty of speed, memore and a good graphics card.  Ive tried everything I could find online with zero success.  Im also not getting an error message.  LR goes to splash screen and the blue wheel of death spins until the whole thing just closesd w/o a message.

My account is paid up and theres nothing wrong with my internet or OS.

For love of  God, can somone square me away?

Hi there,

Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'd love to help you figure this out.

There could be various reasons for this. Did this start to happen since a recent update of Lightroom or the operating system?

Do you have any antivirus that could be restricted folders & internet access to Lightroom? Have you tried disabling such programs temporarily as a test?

First, set Lightroom to run as administrator by default.

  • Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom CC
  • Right-click on Lightroom.exe > Properties > Compatibility > Change Settings for all users > Check 'Run this program as an administraor'

  • Click on OK & Apply to save the changes.

Before further troubleshooting, we must ensure you have all the data backed up locally or on the cloud.

You can log on to Lightroom Web (https://lightroom.adobe.com) to check and confirm everything is synced.

Now, try these steps:

Go to the following location

  • C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Lightroom CC
  • Press the Windows > Enter 'Run' > Type %localappdata%\Adobe
  • Rename the Lightroom CC folder as 'Lightroom CC.old' (add .old at the end)
  • Restart Lightroom.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!
Sameer K
