I am having real trouble with lightroom performance. I have tried to implement all of the measures on adobe's "optimize performance" page, but nothing seems to be affecting it. My catalogue and previews are on an SSD, and my RAW files I store on the 3TB HDD.
On my first catalogue, I have 8000 images imported, many unedited. The way I work is to choose the ones I like and leave the rest. Is this a bad workflow that could affect performance? Today I opened a new catalogue and my most recent folder has 185 images. I've only edited around 10 and some have adjustment brush edits on there. My computer is really struggling with the adjustment brush, despite optimisation it is laggy, and even black screens on me for a split second before coming back.
I tried deleting all the old previews and keeping just the catalogue. I've made all types of preview form smart previews to 1:1 and it makes no difference. I don't think what I'm trying to do is all that heavy duty in all honesty.
Would it make a difference to delete all my photos on my first catalogue from lightroom?
Many thanks in advance
