LR Mobile Not Syncing On All Platforms

Explorer ,
Nov 30, 2021 Nov 30, 2021

This seems a bit odd, has anyone else had this issue and found a fix?

LR Classic syncs to the cloud version on my Android phone, but does not sync to the Windows PC versions.  In addition, on the Android version, there is a cloud icon on the top right and when I click on it, it shows the sync status.  On the PC Version, there is the same cloud, however it doesn't show the sync status, just the amount of clouds space I have used, which is currently about half.

I have tried refreshing the browser, clearing cookies and logging out and back in.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Start by logging into the web interface to see the status of the sync. If sync is incomplete or has issues, you will see a sync folder with pending or unknown issues. By far the easiest way to start finding what the problem is.

Also check your phone, if you are not on WiFi, make sure that you have enabled the cellular data under the preferences.

Lastly, a screenshot of the popup box when you click the cloud on Windows also helps.

Thanks for the reply.  Is there a web interface other than the cloud version of LR?

There isn't a sync status on the Windows PC Version,  Click the cloud icon and this is all it shows.

On the Android version, clicking the cloud icon shows the sync status.

ok. I believe what we have is poor word/marketing choices by Adobe complicating general poor marketing by IT to explain what is going on.

A few points:

  • Ok, that shot you show is from the web interface to Lightroom.

  • When using the browser, there is nothing to "sync" since it works off everhything that is already pushed to Adobe. Therefore when you click the cloud in the web browser it will not show a status.
  • If any device is still uploading images or has pending items to sync, you will see a special folder/album in the web interface which says something about sync. This is useful sometimes to find problem images, or see how much is still pending updates.
  • There is also a desktop app, which when working on images is much faster than using the browser. The desktop app when you click on the cloud will actually show the same information you see on your phone about numbers of images and status.

Thanks Tim.  My expectation is if the desktop version has synced a file to the android app, it should also be synced to the web version. If the image was not able to be synced, then it would show as an error in the desktop version and not display on the android app.   Maybe not?  And if not, and there is no error on the desktop version, is there a way to get the web version to sync? I tried deleting cookies etc and another browser.  Not an end all issue, just a bit frustrating.  Thanks for your thoughts.

The desktop does NOT sync to the mobile version.

The central hub of all versions is the "cloud" which you can always find the current state of all uploaded images by using the web interface (note, this does not include the state of meta-data updates that I have found). All mobile versions sync to cloud, the desktop syncs to the cloud... everything goes through the cloud.

So, if there is a sync error on one device (no matter which device), it will not get to the cloud, and therefore will not make it to any other devices (desktop, another mobile device), or even the web version. So, when you get a sync that seems to be stuck, I always first check the web interface to see if there are error messages in the sync folder. That often gets me most of the way there by finding the problem image.

Last point, I rarely use the camera phone, I mostly use a dedicated camera. So my normal process is to upload images off the SD card from the camera. I do NOT delete the images on the card until after Lr has finished syncing everything to the cloud. This has saved my bacon before when my laptop ran out of power and Lr did not close correctly. The local library file was effectively corrupted. I did not care, becase I had lost nothing, just delete the loca library, sync, and reload images from the card.
