Migrate Lightroom Library to another account

New Here ,
Aug 31, 2022 Aug 31, 2022

Hi, I've been using a CC license for several years now in my job and am leaving that role. I have all my personal Lightroom Library on that account.

I've purchased my own CC membership now but cannot work out how to import my old CC Lightroom library/images etc into the new account.

Thanks for any tips on how to reimport the library / photos / structure of all the data into my personal account.

There isn't a simple way to migrate from one account to another but aside from using the Lightroom Downloader tool and reimport, you can:

  • Create Album on new account.
  • Enable Sharing for that Album.
  • Invite email associated to your old account.
  • Ensure you give the old account Can Contribute rights.
  • Accept invite associated with old account and sign in to old account.
  • Add Photos to Album shared from new account.

This will transfer photos over including edits without having to export the photos.

You could transfer all photos to that Album and sort them from there, however it maybe easier to mirror your Albums in the new account and share each one (although you will have to accept an email for each album).

Sorry forgot to ask..... You are referring to the Cloud Based Lightroom aren't you? Not Lightroom Classic.

Both Lightroom (Cloud Baaed) and Lightroom Classic (where photos are stored on local drives) are both now subscription based.

Also confusingly, as various points they have both has the name Lightroom CC!

If you can just check what version you are using, Either from About Lightroom or Help - Systen Info

Yep, it's the Cloud Based Lightroom so either try the workflow above or use the Lightroom Downloader tool and reimport.

There's no harm in contacting Adobe but it's not something that I'm aware that they'll do for users wishing to migrate.

I would contact Adobe support. Perhaps they have a way of migrating the account behind the scenes.

I am not sure this will get a reply as the original string is already 2 years old. However, I have the same problem with Lightroom Classic because I changed region and for some reason I am not allowed to modify my region. I was actually able to speak with an agent some weeks ago who told me the only solution was to create a new account using a different email address. I did not want to do this but it seems I have no option. How to I copy ALL of my old library into the new account? AND why doesn't Adobe understand that real people actually move to different countries? The simplest solution for me would be to modify my region but I am not allowed to do that! I now have a new subscription with a new email but cannot import my library! AND, in spite of the fact that you clearly state on your support page "real help from real people" , it is impossible to get through to a REAL PERSON. This is absurd and so very frustrating.

If an expert is monitoring this, please please reach out to me.

Very many thanks in advance.
