Lightroom for iPad 8.3.1

iPad OS Version 16

ipad 8

Hello,

i have a Nikon Zfc with which I shoot in RAW format.

i have imported my shots on the iPad using SnapBridge but when I try to edit the picture on Lightroom for iPad, they are all in Black&white. No problems with jpeg format. No problem with editing on iPhone.

the problem seems to be related only to the iPad version.

did anyone experience this?

is there any fix?

You're probably applying a preset to the raw images by default. Check in app settings->Import what it says for raw import. You typically want to see Adobe Default, or Camera Settings there. You definitely do not want a preset to show there. To fix already imported images, just apply a normal preset such as adobe default to them.

Since you have set it to camera settings (a good idea in general), that would then suggest you are shooting in black and white more in camera. Otherwise it should not do this. If these are raw images, the black and white mode in camera simply sets a flag that tells your Lightroom installation to interpret the raw data in black and white. You can try "adobe default" here or go to an image in Lightroom and select a different camera profile.

Hi Jao, thanks for your reply.

I am a long time Nikon user, so I know already what is my camera settings and I can ensure it is not set to Monochrome.

That said I tried the following:

1. Opening the raw I have imported through Lightroom for Ipad on iPhone >> Raw are shown correctly and with full colours.
2. Import those shots directly on Mac Lightroom CC and they are are expected (coloured).

3. Try to reshoot in 12-bit Raw (instead of 14 bit used by the Nikon Zfc). Changing to 12bit raw make the file readible by Lightroom for iPad.

Apparently the issue isthat Lightroom for iPad has some comptibiliy issues with 14bit Nikon raw.
Do you know a way to open a ticket to Adobe tech support?

Main way is to submit as a bug report on this forum. That said I always shoot as 14 bits raw on my Nikons and have never seen this on my iPad. My guess is that your Lightroom installation on the iPad is defective (it happens) and that it is missing the profiles needed for the Zfc camera. You can try (if you are sure all images have synced to the cloud) deleting the entire app and reinstalling it. You can also try sharing a raw file with the issue here too.

Also, if you share one of the raw images using something like dropbox, folks here can check whether it is the raw file that specifies the black and white profile or something else.
