It cannot be done directly from LrC to the cloud. LrC only uploads smart previews.
The workarounds:
For new images that aren't yet in LrC, then import them instead directly into the cloud (either use the Lightroom Desktop app, or the LrWeb browser-based app). That uploads the original files, and they then will also sync down into the synced LrC catal

It cannot be done directly from LrC to the cloud. LrC only uploads smart previews.
The workarounds:
For new images that aren't yet in LrC, then import them instead directly into the cloud (either use the Lightroom Desktop app, or the LrWeb browser-based app). That uploads the original files, and they then will also sync down into the synced LrC catalog (first do a one-time visit to the LrC Preferences>Lightroom Sync tab to set your preferred location for those downloaded images).
For existing LrC images, sync them to the cloud first (i.e. as Smart Previews). Once they are safely uploaded to the cloud, then import the same images directly into either LrD or LrWeb and that will replace the already-uploaded smart previews with the originals.

Ideally I would like to have everythign in the cloud but things like the map function ect mean I am tied to LrC. LrC also allows tags ect so I can't make a clean break.
I am trying to upload 100,000 photos of overseas trips, scans ect but without a proper back up. I am forced to use LrC but am then I am also using google photos and dropbox to store orginals.
Both (google/dropbox) have major limitations. Don't get me started on the way google photos mixes up the dates when uploading while, dropbox is perfect but not a viewer.
Unfortunately LR makes it so hard for the average user to get the simplest of things done like photo management

Workarounds are often cumbersome, but we have little choice when we choose to circumvent the intended design intent. I also prefer to have all originals in the cloud, while still using Lightroom Classic as my main desktop app, so I have to accept that the workarounds to achieve that are not ideal. It would be so much easier if we were able to sync originals directly to the cloud from Classic, but we currently cannot (there's a feature request on the forum asking for that functionality, you might want to add your vote).
Regarding your question about file structure (I assume you mean physical folder structure?)....the existing LrClassic folder structure remains the same and is unaffected by this action. However, we have no visibility of the physical storage structure of the cloud-based images, they are stored somewhere on the Adobe servers, but we can't see that. Our "file management" in the cloud is limited to albums and "Folders" (which are the containers for albums).
