P: Lightroom 7.3 permissions issues

Hello,

I just updated to Lightroom 7.3 and now everytime I open the app it shows a error message saying it has detected folder permissions:

Captura de pantalla 2024-05-21 a las 7.56.23 p. m..png

I click "repair to continue" but it can't repair the issue and throws another message:

Captura de pantalla 2024-05-21 a las 7.56.28 p. m..png

If I click continue it opens and seems to work fine, but the error is really annoying.

I unistalled and reinstalled the whole thing but didn't fix the issue.

Any help?

You may try resetting your preference file to see if the recurring message goes away.

This procedure works for both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop.

If you are using Lightroom Desktop, it can change your local storage location. Please review this setting after resetting preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.

2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.

3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.

4. Close Lightroom.

5. Restart Lightroom.

Note: a preference file survives an install/uninstall.

I have the exact same issue as reported from the beginning of this thread.

I reverted back to LR 7.2 and the issue went away.  Reinstalled the update to 7.3 and the issue came back and persists.

I just went through the procedure to reset Preferences and that did not resolve the issue.

Hi, Rikk.

Thanks for the reply but unfortunately it didn't work.

I reverted back to 7.2 and the issues goes away. Then I updated again to 7.3 and the issue persist, so it is most likely  a 7.3 bug.

I, too , have the exact same problem.  There were no issues at all with 7.2.  Upgraded 7.3 and I can not get rid of this error message.  It looks like a bug to me as well.

@carloss22072637

The team would like to collect logs from you.

To be successful, the log needs to be captured in 7.3

For LrDesktop

Go to Preferences

Account Section

Hold down the [Opt/Alt] key to make [Diagnostic Log] button appear.

Additionally, if you can locate the lrcc_console.log file that would be helpful.

When you have the logs ready, contact me in the thread and I will send a message to you to collect the logs.

Ok, I think I found a workaround this...

Do not update from Lightroom app itself.

Go to the Creative Cloud app and update from there.

It worked for me.

I did it in both my mac mini and mac studio and it worked in both.

@carloss22072637  I didn't see this reply that you found a workaround. Disregard my request for logs. I have forwarded your workaround to the team for review.

Rikk,  So looking into the log it showed an error trying to access a Mastins Lab preset pack I have installed.  I went to the folder and manually changed the Read/Write setting to Read/Write for all.  Bingo this fixed the issue for me.

Please make sure you have read/write permissions to the folders and all its subfolders, and you have cleared the existing ACLs to the folders and all its subfolders.

My installs have all been from the Creative Cloud Desktop App. The issue persists.  I can gather the logs if you will let me know where to send them.

After creating the logs, I started reviewing them looking for permission errors.  I found the issue with Camera Profiles that had been imported and did not have Read/Write.  Changing those permissions solved the problem.  I still wonder why this issue popped up now since I have had those Profiles in the system for 2 or 3 years.

I am on a Macbook Pro with Lightroom 7.3, and I started having this issue this morning after a photo session.  This is the first time I have had this issue.  I have restarted, looked for updates (none) and followed directions for toggles.  Still shows.  I would appreciate help as I need to save my edited photos from Lightroom to a file for my clients.  Thank you.

Easiest fix is to run the diagnostic log mentioned in this thread. Open log and search for the location of the permission error. Go to that folder and manually change the permission to read/write for all.
This fixed things for me.

I ran into the same issue after upgrading to Lr 7.3.  I located the following thread which describes a similar issue (with Lr Classic) and solution, which worked for me.

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/permissions-lightroom-does-not-have-wri...

"Try the followingopen up terminal.app (type terminal in the looking glass top right in the menubar)

type (just copy and paste):

diskutil resetUserPermissions / `id -u`

This will take a while and will reset the permissions in your home folder. Might fix your problem."
