(using Lightroom CC mobile 4.0 on apple devices and latest Lightroom Classic CC for mac)
Hello,
After updating my iPad and iPhone to the latest versions, the new People album appeared and many faces were recognized, waiting for manual identification.
The thing is I was already using face recognition in Lightroom Classic on my mac and I was expecting the same people to be synchronized in the mobile apps. But it seems here I have to do it all over again... The people I have in Classic are still there, and I have unknown faces in my mobile apps.
Why is it not synchronized, just like keywords for example ?
Am I missing something ? I did check this page Find and organize photos of people in the People View , but no mention about Classic version here.
Thank you all
Alain

That's not a good example, as Keywords don't sync either. Classic is limited in terms of it's syncing capabilities with LRCC....keywords, location data, and now face recognition data do not sync and so far there is no indication that Adobe will be changing that any time soon.
So yes, you will have to do that work all over again in LRCC if you want to use the new People feature.

LR Classic uses a catalog.
Face detection in LR CC is done server-side; not on your computer.

If you have got some of your Classic keyword data appearing in LRCC, that will be as a result of metadata being written into XMP in Classic before the images were synced with LRCC. That's a one time, one way transfer of data....any subsequent changes made in either app will not sync to the other.

Thank you for your explanations !
I never realized before that keywords where not synced since they are correctly uploaded on the first sync... (one time, one way transfer as you said)
Do you know if there is any documentation with a full description of which fields are synced and which are not ?
thanks again

I migrated to LRCC shortly after it was released, about a year ago. At that time, in CLassic I had 59 people detected by face recognition. In Classic I had renamed the groups of people. Shortly after the migration, I made the switch to LRCC. Classic has been deleted long ago.
Monday I updated my iPad. The odd thing I am seeing is the 59 groups of people that were in Classic. No new face groups have been detected and no new photos were added to the existing groups.

I have exactly the same experience. I have updated to the new versions of LRCC having migrated from Classic a year or so ago. When I open People View in LRCC on my Mac, iPhone, iPad or Windows machine I see people that were identified using Classic, but no new faces at all. This is really frustrating. My library contains about 67k images and so I am hoping that the issue is caused by the load on Adobe's servers to process all of the images and do the recognition. However, given that it has now been a few days since the update, I am not hopeful.
Does anyone know how to get the new faces feature to work?
Thanks.
Simon

After almost 3 weeks, I still have no new people added to Lightroom CC. What n earth is going on? I understand that Adobe might need some time to process 67k images, but 3 weeks?!? The lack of any communication or expectation management from Adobe to be appalling. At the least, there should be a note on the release notes (or the various emails advertising the latest version that I have received) to tell me what to expect from this new feature. How much longer should I expect before I start to see People view work?
Sorry Adobe - this is rubbish. Every other serious service out there (Apple, Google etc) got this functionality to work years ago - the Lightroom evolution is simply too slow and still this feature was clearly not ready for release.
