Probably with the next update to Lightroom Classic CC and Lightroom CC. In the meantime, there is a beta version of the DNG converter that will convert the NEF files to the DNG format if you want to go that route as a temporary stopgap.

When I'm in LR and when I 1st go to import the pictures while connected to the camera via USB LR sees all the pictures on the card. I shoot both JPEG and NEF and it sees both copies. Now when I select import it starts to do its thing and when finished it gives me the error about the NEF files.

1st strange thing is it didn't copy all the JPEG or video files, only some of them.

2nd problem I have is after downloading the DNG program from Adobe it and my Mac book pro does not see the z6 so I'm unable to use it. Is there a secret on getting the Mac and the DNG converter to see the drive on the z6?

Thanks

If you're using most recent DNG converter, when you open program, you'll see at the top, there is a box that asks for folder to select images to convert.  If you're using a XQD card reader, the Z6 folder from the card will be searchable, click on those images, and indicate location to save converted images.  Then you can open LR and select those images for import into LR.

The problem is that I'm not using a reader but hooking the camera directly to the computer with the supplied USB cable.

Might need to order an card reader.

Just a quick tip if you want to go the card reader route, for my Z7 I am using a XQD adapter made by Sony instead of a reader that is ultrafast and very reliable and much cheaper than the XQD dedicated card readers being sold: https://www.adorama.com/soqdasb1j.html It reads easily at 400 MB/s over a standard USB 3 connection and no drivers needed. This is possible because XQD is a form of a direct disk interface and you don't actually need a reader but functionally this is exactly the same.

When you use the DNG converter (the standalone version) you choose the folder containing raw images, but you don't open that folder. If you open the folder then the converter will give you the message that there are no raw files to convert. Only select the FOLDER.
