switching accounts and keeping photos

New Here ,
Feb 03, 2024 Feb 03, 2024

I am interested in knowing if there is any chance that my photos can be transferred from the business account to another account. My subscription has ended and I still have photos in Lightroom on my phone from the old account, but I'm not sure if they will stay there if I switch accounts. Is there a possibility for photos to be transferred or do I have to download them and upload them to a new profile manually?

Are you switching from a business account to an individual account?  or from a business account to a different business account?

In the absence of an automated method to seamlessly switch assets from one account to another (though do ask Adobe Customer Care if they can help), the following procedure which I've previously tested and suggested should still work:

1. The key thing is to ensure that you still have access to the images in the old account. You should be able to verify this by logging into the LrWeb app (open lightroom.adobe.com in any browser window on a desktop system, not phone or tablet, and login using the old account details). If you still have access to the images, log out again.

2. Log in to either the Lightroom desktop app or the LrWeb app using the new account credentials.

3. Create an album, and set it to share (setting the Link Access to "Invite only"). Add the email address of the old Adobe account and set the sharing type as "Can Contribute", then send the invitation.

4. Click on the invitation email in the old account email app to accept it.

5. Now log back into the LrWeb app using the old account settings and you should see the shared album in the "Shared with You" list.

6. Select ALL the images and add (i.e. contribute) them to that shared album. Ensure that you set all the appropriate metadata options to be included.

7. In the background, the cloud servers will then copy all those "contributed" images from the original source into the new album in the new account.

8. Once complete, you then should have all the images into the new account and can organise them as you wish.

Depending on the number of images involved, you may wish to perhaps do the transfer one existing album at a time, thus avoiding the reorganising effort once the transfer has been done. Another approach would be to add album-specific keywords to the images in the old account, before the transfer. That would make it easier to reorgainse once the transfer is complete.
