When I try to import photos from the micro SD card of the drone to my iPad Pro, I get the message there are no photos. On my iMac using Lightroom Classic, I can "include subfolders" and the photos are found.
Is there some setting I haven't found that will allow LR on the ipad to find the photos?

If you plug your SD card into your iPad, can the iOS Photos app see those images? Lightroom relies on iOS to be able to see and display images in the Lr Import screen. If iOS Photos app can see the images, the Lightroom should be able to import them.
Some types of incompatible images show no thumbs at all in iOS Photos, and LR cannot import what iOS does not show. Other kinds of incompatible images show empty placeholders -- Lightroom can often import these, and then subsequently display those images after ingesting and processing the images.
Hopefully a future iOS update will help the platform display your images, so that the Lightroom app can display them before they're fully imported.

Photos app on the ipad also did not see any photos. I need to report to Apple.

I did find a video that had a solution. Import to the Files app. From there I could import into Lightroom.
