Unable to import photos from Nikon D850 on MacBook Pro Max M1

Hi, I moved from an old 2016 MacBook Pro (Intel Chip) to a MacBook Pro Max M1 (Silicon Chip). When using the cloud desktop version of Lightroom (v 6.5), I can no longer add photos directly from my Nikon D850 using an HDMI to USB C Cable. When I select "Add Photos", I see my Nikon D850 appear in the drop down menu as I did in the past. Previously on the old Mac Book, I would see the images come up in a grid, and I could select which photos I want to import. However, with the Max M1, after clicking on it, Lightroom can't find any images. Instead, I get the message "No images that can be imported were found in the selected source." I'm guessing this has to do with compatibility regarding the silicon chip. Is there a way to fix this?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you
