Using both LR Classic CC and LR CC together

Hi,

Is it possible to use both LR Classic CC and LR CC together?

I keep and edit all my photos in LR Classic, but I'd also like to be able to view them the cloud. I probably won't edit them on the cloud, but I'd like to be able to look at them in LR CC.

Thanks!

Adobe recommend that you do not sync the two applications. See fourth question on linked document.

I am not sure if you mean that but it is rather simple. You can sync each collection you want and the smart previews of your photos are synced to the cloud. Enough to view them in full HD but not for printing of course. Video clips are not synced.

Thanks for the reply. Technically, I know how to make collections available on the cloud. I've done that before, but I'd now like to have a copy of my entire personal photo library on the cloud and have it so I can view those files in LR Classic on my desktop & LR CC for my phone.

Then, if I make any edits in LR Classic or delete any files there, they'd sync to the cloud. Basically, I'd like to have the "saved originals" be on the cloud but be able to edit them in LR Classic. There's things I do there that can't yet be done in LR CC.

It looks like Adobe doesn't want the two applications to work together that tightly, but if you think it'll work, I'd love to try it. I have around 30,000 photos that are currently uploaded to Apple Photos, but I'd rather have everything with Adobe. Thanks!

I see a similar thread where there is a complain why LRCC does not do what you suggest. I am not sure that I can follow. You can edit the synced smart previews in LRCC as if they were raws in LR. The smart previews do not have the non-linear 8bit color space limitation of Jpegs and just lack resolution. Once these LRCC edits are synced back and applied in LR then all is good again.

Keeping all raws in the cloud seems to be an overkill looking at Adobe’s prices. And for serious editing, LRCC is too simple. Even LR is, and a more serious processing software is used often additionally . That output is mostly tiff then, which synces nicely with LRCC as smart preview.

Thank you. I figured that was the case as it has been since LR CC came out. My problem is like to edit in LR Classic CC, but I also want all my personal photos to be available on the cloud and across all my devices. Like today, we had a snow storm, and I'd like to put the photos I took and edited in LR Classic on the cloud.

I previously have been exporting them from LR Classic and then then copied them into Apple Photos, where they got uploaded to the cloud, but that requires extra steps and hoped things changed, so I could simply tell LR Classic to make those photos available on the cloud.

That works, but if I modify any photos in LR Classic, it becomes a pain to re-upload the changed files back into Apple.

Hi - I ended up syncing collections and that's perfect for for what I want to do.

All my family & friends take & share photos with their phones and their photos are always with them, but because I use a camera and edit in LR, most of mine are on the computer. I was looking for an easy way to get them from LR to my phone, and uploading them as smart previews from collections is perfect.

I won't be able to share an original size photo, but a smart preview is more than enough since most don't ever look at them anywhere but their phone.
