So I use Lightroom and Photoshop and my laptop has decent spec I have 1TB of storage 585GB on my C Drive and then the rest on my D Drive. I import my photos in to lightroom then when I export them I save to a file then transfer file to an external hard drive then clear the photos off my laptop so I save space. I currently only have 14678 images in my lightroom in ARW files. I have had a alot more in there in the past ( will normally delete folders I wont use again or dont need to keep) but now I only have 5 gb of space left on my laptop and I have nothing I can trim off to give me more space.... Are the files saving somewhere I am not seeing?

Can I move lightroom to my D Drive?

Using the most updated Lr (updated 10.20.24)

(computer specs: just in case its helpful Gs75 Stealth 9SF)

intel(R) Core (TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.60 GHz

Ram16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)

System type 64-bit , x64 processor

How did you "clear off" what you don't want anymore?

When deleting from within LrC, it asks you whether to only remove from LrC catalog, or also from the storage/disk.

What did you answer, because the first does not free space on the disk, whereas the latter does.

A test: While being in the library, right-click on the topmost folder in the folder panel and select to synchronize. What does the output show?

I just selected photos from lightroom and the hit delete I don't recall it
asking me anything about deleting from 2 locations.... I'll have to check
and see when I get off work tonight if it ask a question. I am also just
using LR not LRC if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the advice will try it

You want your photos to go to the D drive, straight out of the camera. Don't put them on a drive where you are concerned about running out of space.

In fact, moving Lightroom Classic isn't the solution. Moving the photos to the D drive is the solution, while keeping them in the catalog. The photos take up much more space than LrC takes up. See "Part 2—Updating Folder Location" of this document for instructions.

Not what was suggested. You use LrC to import the photos straight to your D drive. Do not put them on a drive that doesn't have a lot of space (like your C drive).

maybe I should be importing the them to d drive 1st them selecting file from d drive.

No, make it one step, import them using LrC from the camera card directly to the D drive.

I am so sorry I didn't realized I selected LrC when I wrote my post! I am currently using the most recent update on Lr cloud based. I have posted a question on that community group

[I'll merge this thread with the new question - Mod.]
