I didn't realize my photos didn't sync. Can I get them back?

I was working with my photos in Lightroom on one computer. I had to stop using that computer and use a different one. When I downloaded Lightroom to that computer it was only able to find 26 of 2040 images. In the online version of Lightroom I am seeing this:

I do not have access to the computer it is telling me to open Lightroom on. Are my files gone forever or is there a way to get them back?

Log into Lightroom on the web at lightroom.adobe.com. If you don't see the photos there, then they never uploaded to the cloud. There is no way to get them back without going back to the original files, on the other computer.

Is there a way to get the preview images even if I can't get the originals.
