Local adjustments

 I can sleet my local adjustment tools  as well as the cropping tool but I am only able to edit them to the right side of the images.  I cannot select any area to apply a brush or filter or corner for cropping on the middle or right side.  Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Can you give more information, like the version of Lightroom and your OS? A screenshot might also help.
