Track number of openings/users

Easy question...

Is there a way to track the number of times a captivate file is opened/used? I have multiple web-based training files I created in Captivate. These are not tied to LMS or anything of that nature. I simply want to know how many people view or used the trainings over a certain period of time?

Is this possible?

It's correct what Rick writes - Most webhosts offer some form of statistics/followup on files hosted on the server.

However, if you have Adobe Flash you can create much better tracking using a free service called MochiBot (www.mochibot.com). Basically it's a snippet of code that you need to insert into a flash file. After that you can publish the file and import it into your Captivate project.

Everytime that particular swf is loaded it will report data to Mochibot. You can see the number of times it has been viewed (and use date intervals etc. to sort) and you can also see which servers it was located on.

You can make as many "mochibots" as you want so you can create tracking for each of your files separatly.

I stand to be corrected on this, but I believe this is information you can obtain independently if you are using a web hosting service. You just need to examine the server logs. If by chance you are using your company's web server, you need to ask your web admin folks for this information.
