P: Generate Fill - Box Greyed Out

I have loaded the latest Photoshop (Beta) 24.6.0, version and have tried to use the new "Generate Fill" feature. I have tried various files on two different computers (Dell and ASUS)  and the "Generate Fill" box remains greyed out. I have checked the box in the Preferences >Plugins screen "Enable Generator", I have trieed PSD and Tiff files, I have tried 8bit and 16bit files, I have tried small resolution images. I have booted and rebooted the computers. But no matter what I do, I can't change the "Generate Fill" box to allow any input.

Is there another setting I need to change ?

Thanks

Dave

The team is working on this, thanks all for your feedback.

A work around is to select a layer above, or create a new layer above to allow Gen to run.

Why is the Generative Fill button greyed out?

If you find that Generative Fill is greyed out for you, it is possible that you may not have a valid Date of Birth associated with your Adobe ID account. To update your Date of Birth, you can do any of the following:

Once your Date of Birth is up to date, relaunch the Photoshop (beta) app to enable Generative Fill.

I have done all of that, changed my DOB, uninstalled my first version of Beta23, I now have Version 24.6 m 2185 and then I rebooted my computer and STILL have Gereative Fill greyed out. I am about to jump from my 17th story window, in frustration!!!!

Try changing your document from CMYK to RGB for it to be available.

For others who find this thread:

Make sure you are not trying to use Generative Fill while having a layer selected that is clipped to a clipping mask. Adobe has not added this behavior to their FAQ on Generative Fill, nor addressed it in replies. Trying to use Generative Fill on a clipped layer is always greyed out, a repeatable behavior.

I typically get around this by creating a layer above the layer i want to use generative fill on and then clip the generated layer after, or unclip the layer i am generating from and clip them both later.
