P: Lightroom Classic>Edit in PS: Long Delay+Erroneous Error Message opening Ps Beta 2024 25.0

I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024.

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time.

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

Yesterday for some reason lightroom stopped transferring photos to photoshop and photoshop beta, it wouldn't work if I pressed CMD+E or right click and choose edit in > photoshop. It opened photoshop but just gave the open screen and the photo wasn't there.

I deleted photoshop and photoshop beta and reinstalled them, lightroom will now send to photoshop but still won't send to photoshop beta, even if photoshop beta is open. Does anyone know how to fix this please?

I'm using Lightroom Classic CC and Photoshop CC on an M1 Macbook Pro running OS Monterey. All adobe products are up to date.

I have W11 Home 22H2 2261.1992, AMD R5 5600X, 32Gb Ram

All images stored on a local HHD, Lightroom catalogue on local SSD

Lightroom Classic 12.4

Camera Raw 15.4

Photoshop 2023 24.7

Photoshop Beta 24.7

Lightroom preferences external editing says P2023 (there is no option to select P Beta) but when, from Lightroom, > Edit in > P2023, lightroom opens Photoshop Beta UNLESS I open Photoshop 2023 first - then  the image opens in P2023.

When I upgrade Photoshop Beta to 25.0 - Lightroom preferences external editing says Photoshop 2024 and > Edit In > Photoshop stops working. P Beta opens but no image appears. After ~2 minutes a message appears in Lightroom "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be started." even though it has been started. Closing the message & a TIFF image appears in Lightroom, which then opens in P Beta 25.0!!

Uninstalling Lightroom, P2023 & P Beta, & reinstalling but with P Beta 24.7 gets me back to the start position.

How do I get Lightroom to work properly with P Beta 25.0?

I have tried doing the same for this problem for several days but gave up. I have found if I wait for 1m 40sec after sending from lightroom to Beta I get messages that beta could not be found after clearing messages up pops the pic -- go figure. Our friends at Adobe will soon fix this problem. They always do!

This is NOT a complaint as I realize, beta is just that.  Just wondering if anybody has come up with a workaround.  Here goes.

It seems there is a difference between Mac and Windows.  I saw a Colin Smith video (using Mac) where he showed that after installing PS Beta, Lightroom preferences for external editor would offer the choice of "regular" PS or beta.  On my Windows machine this does not happen.  What happens with me is thatonce PS Beta is installed, Lightroom Classic automatically chooses it as the default external Photoshop editor and does NOT offer the regular PS as an option.  So if I want to edit in regular PS direct from LR, I have to shutdown LR, uninstall PS Beta, uninstall regular PS, reinstall regular PS, then start LR.  The normal PS is then automatically loaded in LR preferences as the external editor.  If I now reinstall PS Beta, boom, it is automatically set as the external editor, again with no option to use other PS.  If anybody knows how I can get this to work or a workaround, I'd appreciate knowing.  Thanks.

Same here. The level of distruption this brings to my workflow is not trivial, I understand it's a Beta, but Lightroom isn't and this is a Lightroom issue more than a Photoshop issue.

Reverting to earlier versions of PS 24.6 and Beta 24.7 was my workaround on my MacBook Pro. Now that I'm home from vacation and need to edit on my iMac, this fix is not working. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling older versions, with zero results in fixing this issue. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I've wasted way too much time on this.

I uninstalled Photoshop Beta and now it won't work in regular Photoshop either. So frustrated.
