Ligature fonts

They're not working on ANY of my fonts.  The menu that displays all my options is nowhere to be found! Help!! I need to finish a project!!

    Ligatures are on the bottom of the Character panel (Window menu) for the typefaces that have them (not all do).

     

    Here I have ligatures enabled for the top word and disabled for the lower word. It's a character setting, so the text must be selected when you want to make a change.
