P: Generative fill Error 1004 in photoshop

 Hello 😀

 

I was so excited to try out the new update in photoshop  only to get this error code wverytime I click on the generate button, it will load for about 10 second and then this pops up. Can anyone help me PLEASE 🙏

I have the same issue and it's consistent. I tried re-installing Photoshop Beta and keeps on happening.

Hi Cory,

 

Me too - get this at least 80% of the time trying generative fill. PS Beta 24.6.0. Mac M2 Pro 32GB, Ventura 13.3.1 (a) (22E772610a).

 

Happens with .CR2 or .JPG images & with different types of selection (rectangle, Lassoo, etc). Also whether text in the box or not.

 

Did get one error 1000 early on but now always seems to be 1004 and also some (orange) messages about Server being busy instead of these errors so guess it may be related to timeouts or similar.

 

One other thing that may be relevant - the progress bar makes quite good progress towards very near the end of the bar in 25-30 seconds but then creeps the last few pixels and gives error after circa 70 seconds. Not sure if when it works it does so in same sort of time as currently unable to get it to work successfully at all ...

 

Would appreciate any solution(s) anyone has found for this.

Hi Cory,

 

Saw your later post about switching to Cloud based processing for Select Subject Processing just after I posted the above so tried that. Also switched back the 2 boxes below that to Faster as I had changed them to More Stable when things started going awry.

 

And yes, things seem better. Same progress bar behaviour (quite fast then v slow) and seems to take a bit longer than 70 seconds to complete (75-125?) but so far got a few results with no error messages.

 

Won't be able to do much more for a couple of days now but will respond if anything that might be useful arises. 

 

One factor MAY be that our broadband is very poor (thank you BT.com) especially upload speeds.

Same bar issue… fast till till the end. I did finally get it to work part
of the time when I restarted my computer and the program. Hope that works

Hi,

I am also facing the exact issue on my Mac Mini with an M2 processor and 16GB of memory. My Photoshop version has been up to date with version 24.6.0, and I tried different configuration between cloud based and device based processing.

Technically it's an intermittent issue but I only able to get it to work 1 out of 10 times of usage, so I would say it's pretty much a consistent faliure.

same thing happening to me.  Tried 20 times, with different photos. Restarted computer. Same issue. Doesnt matter if it's a selection, lasso selection, inverted selection, generate fill with or without a prompt, yields the same result - a steady progress bar that looks complete for about 20 seconds and then errors.

 

I've tried changing the image processing from faster to stable, from device to cloud. Nothing works. 

The tool looks so good in examples, but i can't make it work at all.

To add, I'm running MacOS Monterey 12.6.3, MacBook Pro 16-inch 2019, 2.3Ghz 8-core interl core i9, 32GB 2667 MHz DDR4, with AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8GB. 

not sure if it's an operating system glitch, or graphics card, or simple software bug, but please try and fix this, it's disappointing that some can use it without issue but a large number of us, it's completely inoperable 😞

Hello good folks!
So I downloaded adobe photoshop beta after a bit of a struggle for some reason, but then when I try generative AI it gives me the following error:

An error occurred during image generation: error upload_inpaint_images upload: 1004

Any Idea what's that and/or how to fix it?

 

I got the image from unsplash to try to feature out, I am on Macbook Pro M1 MAX 32GB GPU 32CPU 32RAM, 1TB SSD.

 

That's all the information I can think of that could be useful 😄

@Pete.Green  I don't think so, because if there was any permission needed, the operating system would have shown me any prompt to go visit my settings and ask for any permission, but that didn't happen 😞

My firewall has been inactive.
But since this computer is managed by my company, my guess is that it probably has some kind of "firewall" blocking Photoshop's upload of the results.

i'm facing the same issue, no firewall. internet is decent broadband, not fibre. about 1.5Mb up and 8Mb down.  if it's processing on device, i can't see why it even needs to send much data to the adobe servers?

Hi,

Ive kust tied to use the generative fill function but I keep getting an error message

 How do I overcome the following error message when using generative fill:

Hey all, curious if this issue is persisting, or if after a few tries it goes away?  One thing to try is to try is turning Select Subject to cloud based vs Device, does this still give you the error?

Greetings! Tried BOTH Cloud and Device with same Error message. As well of most othe above attempts. Also, exported my jpeg from Lr to my Desktop and imported directly instead of my usual Edit in ..... without any results other than the error message. I think we are all very excited about this signifcant tool as it places Adobe back in fron of the pack, but a solution needs to be found. Please help. Thnak you

Ditto here.  Got it to work first couple of times (i.e., widen canvas, then fill blank spaces on either side of original image, no instructions to the AI).  Since then, all I get is the 1000 message.  Tried different images and various Generative AI requests.  Same thing each time: Status bar reaches the end, then up pops the error message.  Have tried image processing on device and on cloud; same result.  Gear = M1 iMac/16 GB/ATT fiber internet.  OS and PSbeta both current.  Thanks.  Ray in Nevada.
