Photo Restoration Neural Filter now available in Photoshop Beta!

Wow, this Photo Restoration Neural Filter sounds amazing! 🎉 I’m really excited about the scratch reduction and face enhancement features—restoring old family photos has always been tricky, and this seems like a huge time-saver. I’m especially curious to see how the advanced adjustments like noise reduction and JPEG artifact reduction perform on really damaged images. Can’t wait to try it out and see the results firsthand

Does the AI only source information from Adobe Stock images or the world wide web? This is important for companies whose compliance does not yet allow use of programmes that source from the web.  However if it just uses Adobe Stock to generate the new image, we could use it. Thank you.

It's now 2024, and the filter is still in beta, and still has issues.

Whenever I use Photo Restoration, if I use it for more than about six images, it starts to slow down, and gets slow enough to where I can go make a pot of coffee while it's processing an image. My system has 64GB of RAM, GPU has 11GB, and it uses an i9 CPU. Also, it often fails to recognize faces in an image, and displays the "no faces detected" message.

The filter is really handy for quick fixes. Is it going to be updated again?

The photo restoration filter was working great for me when using 2023.  In Photoshop 2024 my computer crashes every time I try to use the filter.

When is this feature likely to be released (i.e., no longer beta)? I have a heap of photos to process, but I'm kind of waiting until any kinks with the tool are ironed out.

I have a weird situation. I tried to apply photo restoration to one of my photos. It's not a big file, but it took almost 25 minutes to finish, and then the same thing for the next adjustment. It kept showing:" Processing on Device."
I dedicated more memory to Photoshop Beta but it didn't change anything. The weird point is that it shows (5s) or (25s) or times less than a minute to finish the process, but it takes significantly longer and stops my laptop from doing anything else. Even opening my task manager 🙂

The filters are not in the "File" drop down, but in "Filter"

It's almost a year since the beta Photo Restoration has been released and there are still some issues, but mileage may vary based on the resolution and quality of the photo you are working with. I'm working on a low-res photo with fine detail and with Scratch reduction set at 3% it removed the scratch, but also a cross beam on the fence. I can understand why it might consider anything that is a diagnal may be a scratch, but people need to compare before and after real carefully to make sure it doesn't lose details. Also the Noise Reduction above 3% made the evergreens look blurry. 

Photo Restoration appears to have been disabled in v24.4.1 as of 5/2/2023.  Hopefully it will come back soon.  It was working really well.
