Backspace, Esc keyboard commands not working in Polygon Lasso Tool (Windows 10, 24.2.1)

Since I updated Photoshop to 24.2.1 the Backspace and Esc keyboard commands not working in Polygon Lasso Tool.

Also, it appears I have to do an extra click to engage the selection on any of the select tools (difficult to explain this, but if you've experienced this, you'll know what I mean.

This is an intermittant issue.
