Camera Raw (17.0.0.2043) Error : "The operation could not be completed" when selecting objects in the masks pannel, either with brush or rectagular select.
I have just upgraded Photoshop from 2023 to 2025 version and I didn't have this problem in the previous version. I used to select objects with the rectangle select without any problems. Why is this happening now with this version?

Windows 10
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz 3.20 GHz
32,0 GB RAM

Any help will be much appretiated.

Thank you,
Carlos

I had those problems with "AI" selections on my "old" notebook with an Intel Core i7. It seems as if the older internal Intel HD graphic card and the missing RAM aren't suitable for new ACR versions. With that notebook, I wasn't able anymore to use the subject selections.

Even with my Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra (latest Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, 32GB RAM, nVidia RTX 4070 Mobile), the latest ACR version leads to stutter or system freezes when using the AI supported functions, whereas on my PC with Intel Core i9-10900K, 128GB RAM and nVidia RTX 3080 Ti, I have nearly any problems.

What's also annoying is, that Adobe products eat up the RAM like nothing. When you open a photo in Photoshop, it loaded into the RAM. But after closing the photo (not Photoshop), the RAM won't be freed! After my workflow sometimes I have approx. 100GB of 128GB filled. So, when you open a photo with a high resolution (like my photos with 45.7 MP from my camera) in ACR and do a lot of work, the RAM is full and Adobe begins to use the paging file, which slows the system down extremely.
