Files Occasionally Not Saving Original File Name.

Hi,

I'm using Photoshop 25.11.0 and noticed that since the update, when I save an image it sometimes does not save the original  file name but saves it by the name of my son from all things. I have no idea where it is pulling this info up from and it's always the same name when it does this. It's happened about half a dozen times and I'm not sure whether it happens as  'Save' or 'Save As', but every once in awhile it does this. It seems to occur when it's being saved as a .psd file.  Anything I can do to clear this up?

Thank you.

I am still seeing this issue where my .psd files sometimes saves under a different name. It's always the same name (it happens to be my son's name so it's very noticeable to me). I can't figure out where it's coming from. Any help would be appreciated.

@Linns2

This is the first time I've ever heard of this issue.

  • Have you used Malwarebytes or another malware checker to check for malware?
  • Can you examine your scripts to see if one of them has this code?

I have no idea if either of these will work, but if it were my computer, this is what I would check.

When in the save dialog, if one clicks on a file within the window, the current filename becomes the same as the file clicked. Could that be what is going on?

Hi jane-e and Stephen,

I do use Malwarebytes and there are zero issues. My Mac computer is about 2 months old and I'm using Photoshop 25.11.0

My files have three intials from my camera and then the number.  It doesn't happen all the time, but while working on a file and I  'Save' it to my desktop as a .psd, the name changes to let's say Steve.psd.  It's always the same name and I don't have any photos on my computer saved like this.  I just did a search of my hardrive and the only thing that came up is an addressed envelope that I have saved under that name with a lowercase steve.psd.  I just can't figure this out. It's happened now about a dozen times. It becomes a problem when I don't notice this right away and I need the file I've been working on.
