If you import a text frame or a group of elements with a text frame from indesign to photosop.
photshop 25.1.0 extend the letter spacing byself. if the text frame perfect fits, the pdf object in photsohop get word separations.
I Use this function to lay new design layouts on images of white pattern

How are you doing the "import" from InDesign to Photoshop?

I select the objects. create a group, insert the group in the selected cut kontur (so its a group in a path. and copy this elemet by strg+c at pc or ctrl+c at mac os (montery) and imported by strg+v at photoshop. than the textframe ist broken.
the next step is to sconvert to a smart object and than i transform the object in the right size position and curve and use layer option multiply

Could it be, that the smart object ignore the text flow rules of indesign?

the newest update of illustrator, yes (it would by modify something with fonts embedding in pdfs) has no positive influence of the bug.
the actual photoshop version 25.4.0 on my new system (a m2max mac studio with sonoma 14.3) show the same behavior with smart objects of grouped text frames which partial active text flow like in the past!
please fix the ignoring of text flow at import as a smart object in photoshop.
should I recreate an new issue in indesign forum for this topic to get more reactions of the devolopers?

AFAIK, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign all use different text composition engines, so different results are expected.

I new try with InDesign update 19.2
today, at testing, I found some two (maybe new) strange behaviors!
Left side: the copied the InDesign group in a frame as a smart object in Photoshop: the fonts are correct, but the text flow is broken.
Right side: if you copy only the group (without "insert into selection") as smart object to Photoshop, the text flow looks correct, but the fonts are broken!
take a look to the tex flow menu. if the element is part of the group 3 of values are grayed out and the value will ignore. the position of the text will jump
if the element is out of the group all values are available and text position is correct. but it's not possible to export as smart object!.
i believe that's the reason for my broken smart object labels
