Image frozen and distorted when resizing window

Just got to about 20 steps in working on an image - nothing huge or any complex tasks.
Then suddenly it froze, with part of it chopped off on the right and left sides.
Resizing window only distorted the image. Going back in history didn't do anything, nor change it back to previous states.
Any idea what's going on?
This CC seems incredibly unstable and glitchy. Comparing with CS3 which I used for many years, I never once encountered anything like this.
Not impressed at all...!
