Liquify tool is lagging to the point of being unusable

MacOS Sonoma 14.1.2

Adobe Photoshop Version: 25.2.0

Liquify tool is unusable. Any mouse movement/brush stroke/brush resize causes an extreme delay.  Delay is not present when the mouse is over the properties menu of the liquify screen, only when the mouse is over the image itself. I have checked and double checked that everything is up to date. I have checked the GPU compatibility in the Photoshop menu, all green checks. Turning off GPU in the photoshop settings does help the liquify issue, but this is not a viable workaround as it affects other tools in the program negatively. This started as an intermittent problem but now is happening every single time I use the program. I use this tool heavily and am very frustrated with this issue. Please advise.

Same with me. Seems no body know what to do... Ive spoken with Adobe customer service and theyre not sure as well... same with my IT guy who claims its not Sonoma but cant explain why I didnt have the issue PRIOR to upgrading.

Was wondering what youve found out if anything? I am considering going back to the older OS on my mac.

Je n'arrive pas à reproduire ce problème, chez moi, Fluidité fonctionne correctement, aucun ralentissement !

Nothing yet @MichaelSPhoto . I know that there are lots of people experiencing this issue. I hope that by continuing to make noise about it we can get a resolution soon. It is crippling my workflow.

@peggphoto

Ive tried everything including reaching out to the only person I know who might figure something out an expert IT pal andafter much research, he was befuddled as well. Some people solved the issue with the update to 25.3.1 others, like me, it didnt.

Then I remembered something.. when someone from Adobe logged into my screen, he turned off the Graphics Processor to see if that might help.. but as I was watching him controlling my mouse etc it didnt dawn on me at the time to try that because like you I'm dead in the water.  I did just that a moment ago.

SO.. Photoshop2024 > Preferences >unclick Use Graphics Processor.

That helps a great deal for me.

Ive spoken once again to Adobe and apparently there is an update coming in two weeks - hopefully it will adress this issue.

Hope that helps!

I just updated to PS v 25.4, and this issue has not been resolved. Either Adobe is unaware of this issue, or the problem is incredibly complex. So frustrating as I use this tool all the time for shaping tossed frabrics in my portrait work.

They are WELL AWARE. But clearly havent been on top of this and not only havent fixed the issue but havent even adressed it!

Its pretty awful to conitinue to pay for a product when that particular portion of said product, a portion that so many of us rely on in our work flow, simply does not work!

@MichaelSPhoto It got me so frustrated I decided to look into what it would take to roll back to Venture. The process used to not be that big a deal. Now, that's almost impossible with an Intel machine. I finally gave up on the idea and am forced to deal with this issue until it's resolved. UHGGGG!!!

@DevinDahlgren  The only way to do it now is to disconnect the graphics processor.

Photoshop2024 > Preferences >unclick Use Graphics Processor.

Pain in the arse, but at least it allows us to work.

Really really frustrating. GRRRR

@MichaelSPhoto I was just tipped off that if you select the Move tool before opening Liquify, it works perfectly other than a sparactic moment once Liquify is opened.

@DevinDahlgren

Thank you! I tried it an it did work pretty darn well aside from the inital opening of it. ALSO.. I was going to sign on here and let you and others know that I spoke to Adobe yesterday and they had me download PS 23.3.2  The tech supervisor told me theyve been working on it for a temporary fix and they got that version to work ... and that they are still working on it for the latest 2024 version. That version also worked aside from the intial sporadic movement in the very beginning.

Thanks for this update. It feels good to know that Adobe is aware of this and is working to find a solution. It must be one hell of a bug.
