P: 21.1.3 - Hue Saturation dialog not responsive

Huge reproducible bug with Hue/Saturation Dialog Box. 
Open a document, file, photo, then open try to manipulate Hue/Saturation, the slider moves a little bit then freeze. The problem is that it freezes the whole app. The only solution I found - one time again - is to kill the app and reboot.

UPDATE : This is also affecting other dialog boxes such as Brightness / Contrast. 
The sliders of Color Balance are very difficult to manipulate too. 
For now, these are the issues I can face with dialog boxes.

Does this happen right away/all the time? It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Hi Nicolas,

try to disable GPU acceleration as well. Somehow sounds like it could be GPU related. It tries to give you a fast preview but somehow freezes the app.
Unfortunately, I cannot try to reproduce this as I will not risk an update haha

I can't reproduce this either - try turning of GPU acceleration and see if it persists

Many users have found these issues go away if they reset the photoshop preferences.

In photoshop go to Photoshop>Preferences>General, click on Reset Preferences On Quit

and restart photoshop.

For windows it would be Edit>Preferences>General, click on Reset Preferences On Quit

and restart photoshop.

I have been going through this lately and can only keep it from freezing by punching in numbers manually. After turning off GPU acceleration it worked normally. 

Preferences > Performance > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor"

Disappointing that this is a constant issue with my 16" MBP/ Catalina OS/ Adobe combo.   

I also have to say turning off this feature has created weird visual glitches when working on projects and tools like spot healing not processing until I zoom in or out etc...

It might be a red herring, but I've noticed lots and lots of grizzles about similar peculiarities in lots of Photoshop tools, so the real source and/or cause of the problems is probably general, probably some "improvement" someone made that is busting everything. 

But ... and this is the red herring ... I notice similar problems in software unrelated to Photoshop or even Adobe.  For example, Word and gmail.  My gmail problems might be too much of a red herring, but my Word problems are mostly that it decides to ignore me randomly, while it potters about playing with itself.  I suspect timing problems and poor allocations of priorities.  As the operating system tries to be smarter and smarter, it has less and less time to run the programs we want to run.  I've used some "speed up your computer" tools.  These usually discover that everything is trying to run at top priority, but there is a simple axiom of operating systems and priority: When everything has top priority, nothing has top priority.  The tools adjust the priorities successfully and for a while, my computer runs quite well, but after a while the useless programs seem to elevate themselves to top priority again and the problems return.  I've even paid a commercial computer support consultant to fix things.  They removed a lot of debris and bloatware and adjusted priorities and my computer worked well again for a while, but ... well you can complete that sentence yourself.

Probably, we need some heavies from Adobe to pay some heavies from Microsoft and Apple a visit so our computers spend more time doing useful work and less time just keeping themselves busy.  It'd be interesting to know if users of Unix systems have similar grizzles.

there have been numerous reports about the issue with various Adjustments (Selective Color, Replace Color, Brightness/Contrast, ...) and I could reproduce originally (21.1.3 on macOS 10.15.3) for Adjustments, not Adjustment Layers. 
Resetting Preferences solved the issue for me but several of the complainants claim it did not help them. 

The sheer number of apparently affected users seems remarkable in any case.

Hi all,

Apologies for the frustration on this: We have been able to reproduce the freeze and the engineering team is currently investigating a fix.

Current workarounds that we're aware of:

• Disable Rulers (CMD+R on Mac, Ctrl+R on Win), or
• Move the Adjustment dialog outside of Photoshop's workspace/interface before touching any sliders.

Let us know how this goes.

Those fixes seem to resolve the issue but I find it difficult to understand how such an obvious problem was not noticed before the update was released. I shan't be using PS again until this has been sorted out ...

I've tracked this down. Turn off rulers while doing adjustments.

I did not realize I have to move the adjustment dialog box outside of Photoshop... But how Photoshop became such a mess? Seriously... Each new version of Photoshop needs its Konami codes to work... Can't believe it.

Ok, it works with no rulers. But I still can't believe it.

Turn your rulers off, do a random dance, spell the world Arachnophobia twice, then restart Photoshop. Done.

Between this and the Wacom stylus pen pressure issue, which there still is no fix for, this is hands down the most frustrating update of Photoshop in recent memory.

You can also apply Hue/Saturation as an Adjustment Layer to get around this if you need the rulers on.
