P: Adobe Spaces Helper crash

Something really weird is happening to Photoshop CC 2017 and the bug is still here after numerous PS updates and different computers so I'm sure it's something in the code of PS or CC app.
I'm not entirely sure WHEN it starts behaving wrong (few times I was doing something with the text but other times I wasn't) but I definitely know when I see these symptoms:

- unable to select any menu
- unable to move layers or anything on the screen
- unable to save with CTRL+SHIFT+S (Save as)
- I'm ABLE to save with CTRL+S
- lasso works
- fill works
- hitting TAB totally messes things up - the windows get scrambled!

The only solution for this currently is to restart Creative Cloud app with the shortcut SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+R while the CC app is in focus (but sometimes this bug messes up the pc so much that I can't get the CC app in focus, even get to my task manager or other windows to behave normally).

Has anyone seen this kind of behavior before?

So it's totally weird and I bet the problem is in that damn Creative Cloud app I wish they never thought of in the first place 😕 so buggy....
Or.Or maybe the problem is related to the graphics card? I'll try different nvidia drivers and see how it goes...

Anyways here a crash info if it's helpful.

Thanks for the help everyone!

This issue should work more reliably in the latest release of Photoshop CC: https://blogs.adobe.com/photoshop/2017/10/get-the-goods-announcing-updates-to-photoshop-cc-dimension...

Too prove your theory, "which I believe is right," why not exit the cc app and start PS without it and see what happens.

Thanks for replying. I totally forgot to mention, but yeah I tried that. The same issues occur even if the Creative Cloud app is NOT launched before Photoshop. What's even trickier in that scenario is that I cannot restart CC app to remedy the situation since it's not even launched 😕

The bug is still here. I think it has something to do with the right mouse click. I tried two different mouse models and the bug seems to be introduced after right clicking. Then the symptoms begins. I then double clicked and had a crash.

Second time it occurred a minute ago I was trying to zoom using CTRL+SPACE+LeftMouseButton.
Also when in that "bug-mode" when I try to move some panels around, the mouse gets "sticked" to the penal title bar as if I was holding the left mouse button but I only clicked it once.
Also I think it's interesting to mention that when I right clicked inside Google Chrome window, the Chrome crashed. Two time I tried it and I had two crashes. That happens ONLY when Photoshop is in that "buggy.mode" never before! When Photoshop is closed chrome and every other app runs perfectly.

Here's the error code:

I have been experiencing this for some days now.
Never thought it might be connected to the right-click, but I will keep an eye on it.

I had the same problem.

The problem occurs with installation via CCApps and also with installation via Packaing.

Unusually, in the case of packaging, it occurred after installing the 2017 version.
The 2015 version will work normally.

Installing via CCApps is a CC version that causes both problems both 2015CC and 2017CC.

Additional, This problem occurs with ntdll errors.

I use nVidia card.

Do any of you have LavaSoft installed?
What graphics card/driver do you use/have installed?
If you go to Preference > General... and uncheck "Show Messages" do you still crash?

Hallo,

I don't use LavaSoft and no effect when uncheck "Show Messages".

I have nVidia graphics card and installed lastest driver of graphic card.

Even if I reinstall it with a cleaner tool, I still have problems.

Some people have a problem with format computer.

Basically the same problem here. Opening an image and basically PS freezes at the UI. I have to kill it with Windows task manager. Next boot, it throws up a dialog that the GPU has been disabled.  But, I found the same crash happens when I leave GPU off!
It's seemingly random...not able to isolate a cause. I have the latest Nvidia drivers and CC version...
Really starting to hate Adobe CC...it's has all the robust feel of Netscape 6.  >:-/

Hi
Actually, "Show Messages" is greyed out.
Curious as to how would this effect a crash either way?

My sense is that it's related to something like .NET integration...UI drawing has that same twitchy feel to it as back in the day when apps used Java.  Blech!
Liquify sorta works like it's in the onset of Parkinson's disease.

The solid feel of CS6 is quite stark compared to CC.
In all the years I used it, CS6 maybe crashed a half dozen times. CC crashes pretty much  several times a day here.

On the whole, at least CC is stable as far as getting the serious grunt work done...
If it started flaking out while actually working on images, I'd have no choice but to revert.

I am a temporary measure, but I think I have found a solution.

1. Uncheck 'Show Messages' in 'Edit - Preferences - General - Options'.

2. Uncheck 'Use Graphics Processor' in 'Edit - Preferences - Performance - Graphics Processor Settings'.

3. Uncheck 3 items in 'Edit - Preferences - Plug-Ins - Filters & Extension Panels'

4. Move 'Space' & 'Spaces.generate' Folder to a different location, Such as Document Folder.

-> C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2017\Required\Plug-Ins\Spaces

-> C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2017\Required\Plug-Ins\Generator\spaces.generate

Good luck.

I tried what Kyunghoon Ha suggested and my PS does not crash when using Select and Mask.
So now the issue is what is Adobe doing about this issue?

Hey guys. Just a quick update.

It seems I have solved this issue by uninstalling Nvidia Geforce Experience application from Windows! You don't really need it (it's not the drivers) so it's not a problem and it's buggy anyways. PS and Windows are finally running smoothly! PS opens faster everything is snappy and smooth as I remember 🙂 Awesome!

I'll let you know if anything new happens 🙂

I think my issue is my video card...the hardware is dated the earliest month that Adobe says it supports. (I think I might have to upgrade my hardware.)
I messed with the graphic acceleration settings, but no joy....until I unchecked OpenCL!  No crashes so far. Fingers crossed.

Hi Sean,

Sorry for the crashes. Did you update to CC 2017.1.1?

What video card do you have installed? If NVIDIA like BABILU above, does uninstalling the Gefore Experience application make a difference for you?

Yes, it was 2017.1.1.  I'm using Intel HD 4600.  Turns out an app I had just installed called bins was the culprit. I realized this after chrome starting crashing using mag links.

What I don't get is why the event logs entry faults adobe spaces, which wasn't even installed.
