P: Convert to Video Timeline option missing - Apple M1 devices

I am not able to select anything but "Create Frame Animation" in the Timeline. I am trying to create a Video Timeline, but not using Frame animation. This option isn't in the bottom left or top right of the Timeline menu.

I have tried resetting my preferences, uninstalling and re-installing, creating a new document, and converting all layers to smart objects, and none of those have worked. I have a macbook pro with macOS Big Sur version 11.2.3 with an Apple M1 chip.

Thank you for the help!

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop while trying to open video files. This is a known compatibility issue with Photoshop on the M1 Macs. You can try running Photoshop in Rosetta emulation for now while our product team works on a fix. To run Photoshop using Rosetta, please check: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211861

For more info, you can check: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-for-apple-silicon.html#native-known-issues

Regards,

Nikunj

This is INCREDIBLY annoying. I don't know why anyone even bothers with Adobe anymore. Every update comes with a whole new set of issues. Might as well cancel my subsription and find another more effective software with a competent support team.

No, just not using the timeline. I prefer to work with the M1 version and not via Rosetta. I can always work with the timeline on my PC instead.

Hey Team. Up until a few days ago this tool was working flawlessly. However, everytime I try to use it now I get an error message saying 'Could not complete the video frames to layers command because the file cannot be opened.' any insight is helpful, thanks!!

Hi there,

I am experiencing a problem with my photoshop program. I have the latest version of photoshop and for some reason, I am unable to upload an mp4 file. It will pop up on the screen with a message saying that the file is unreadable. I have spoken to Digital Design lecturers and even they do not know what the problem is.

and another strange thing is that I cannot seem to find my video layers under the layers panel. Normally this option will be just under the smart object. I also do not know if my M1 chip might be the problem or not.

Please can somebody help. Thank you.

When are video editing tools and plugin support going to be added to the Apple Silicon/M1 version? Getting tired of switching back and forth for these basic functions. Thanks.

Only Adobe can address that.
