P: Convert to Video Timeline option missing - Apple M1 devices

I am not able to select anything but "Create Frame Animation" in the Timeline. I am trying to create a Video Timeline, but not using Frame animation. This option isn't in the bottom left or top right of the Timeline menu.

I have tried resetting my preferences, uninstalling and re-installing, creating a new document, and converting all layers to smart objects, and none of those have worked. I have a macbook pro with macOS Big Sur version 11.2.3 with an Apple M1 chip.

Thank you for the help!

Hello, I have some problem with the timeline of Photoshop.

When I open the timeline i don't have the option "timeline for video" but I have just "timeline with frame".

And even if I open first "timeline with frame" I can convert in any way the timeline. Is very frustrating!
someone could help me?

Thanks!

The timeline that opens by default is the video timeline. You have the controls at the top of the panel for video, look closer. See the play triangle in your screenshot?

Are you using an M1 Mac?

If so, you will need to open Photoshop under Rossetta to use the video timeline.

Because it's not supported on ARM (m1) based Photoshop version.

I'm trying to create a GIF with transparency, and whenever I bring in a PNG or TIF sequence (with alpha), all the timeline shows me is the first frame of the animation (which I created in After Effects). The icon to the left of "Layer 1" displays a little red box with a question mark in it. The only suggestion I've found for what that means is that the file has moved. It hasn't. I JUST pointed Photoshop to the sequence the step before that.

Can anyone help me, please? Thanks.

You'll need to run in Rosetta for now. Native support is coming.

Hi There, The problem is I can only download Rosetta if a specific App asks for in when launching. Now Photoshop does not ask me if I need or want the Rosetta when I launch Photoshop.

Hello, I have a problem with the latest version of Photoshop. I'm using an M1 Max Mac / Monterey 12.3.1 and it seems like I can no longer create a Video Animation. The only option I have is to create a Frame Animation. I opened an old psd file with a Video Animation and something is clearly off: I can see the layers in the timeline but the play, pause, commands in the timeline menu are not available. Is this a bug or amd I missing something?

I searched around and I found some posts with something similar from a few years ago, I couldn't find anythng recent.

Thanks.

I have tried for many hours to get Rosetta to instal for Photoshop. I even used Terminal to instal it again on my system. It shows up in other Apps such as Safari but not in Photoshop. I reinstalled Creative Cloud and Photoshop, went through all the updates but still no Rosette shows up in my "Get info" under Photoshop in Finder Apps. The box or name is just not there. I'm running the latest Mac OS Montery Version 12.3.1 I'm not happy paying rental on something that doesn't even work or Adobe does not update it properly. My time is worth something to me! Why won't Rosette show up in Photoshop "Get info"? It's blank with a few --- where Rosette check box should be.

You are probably trying to find the Rosetta option from the photoshop folder not the app itself. Open the folder and you will see the app…the folder and app icons are identical except.

I agree with @donaldb90797007 that you most likely have the folder and not the app selected. If you are not sure, please share a screen shot of the Get Info window and what you are seeing in the dropdown.
