Adobe isn't responding, with the exception of one bot/AI here that says variations of the same thing over and over with nothing happening. I wonder what they will do when the financial fallout we their paying clients experience gets to be so large we have no choice but to file a class action lawsuit. I suspect Adobe knows exactly what this is and for some unknown reason are refusing to do anything to correct it. First, check your subscriptions, what was once listed in my Apple subscriptions is now gone. I then went to my Adobe account and it shows all my apps as web apps with zero mobile apps. IOS cannot utilize web apps. Although the payments are for Creative Pro which clearly states includes Photoshop for iPad. I wonder why. This all began after last Fridays update, why not roll back the update? I no longer have faith or confidence in Adobe, what was once a stellar company is now one that apparently couldn't care less about their clients.

I had the infamous Adobe ISP report regarding the crash upon launch looked at by AI and this is what it says about this issue on my iPad:

Looking at this crash report, I can identify the key issue causing Adobe Photoshop to fail on your iOS device.

The primary problem is indicated by the exception type: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION with signal SIGILL (Illegal instruction). This means the app is trying to execute an instruction that your device's processor doesn't support or understand.

Here are the specific details pointing to the root cause:

Hardware/Software Mismatch:

  • Your device: iPad Pro 12.9 2nd Generation
  • iOS version: 17.7.8
  • App version: Adobe Photoshop 6.3 (build 20250619.632)

The Core Issue: The crash occurs because this version of Adobe Photoshop contains code compiled with newer ARM64 instructions that aren't supported by your iPad's A10 processor. The illegal instruction error happens when the app tries to execute these unsupported processor instructions.

Why This Happens:

  1. Adobe likely compiled this version using newer development tools that generate code optimized for newer ARM processors
  2. Your iPad has an older A10 chip that doesn't support some of the newer ARM64 instruction sets
  3. The app wasn't properly tested or configured for backward compatibility with older iPad models

What does Adobe say? We've all been waiting for a fix for software we pay for over a week.

PHOTOSHOP. for iPad : CRASH UPON LAUNCH

It's  been a week and so many Adobe paying clients have been unable to complete their work because apparently it lAdobe doesn't feel this particular group of users are as important as say the Enterprise groups. I can almost guarantee that anything preventing the Enterprise group from using their version of Adobe Photoshop would be addressed by Adobe within a maximum of 48 hours. But as for the iPad user group I'm in, we're virtually being ignored and I'll go one step further and say it's my belief now after attempting to get any live support or response to this ongoing problem that Adobe is simply hoping we'll give up and go away. I will not.

Interestingly I ran the ISP crash report through AI and asked it to provide details on what was causing this issue, and what it came up with was pretty much what I expected. I mean what else could cause the app to no longer show as activated, and to indicate on my account that I have no mobile access apps, but 23 Web access apps when we know web access isn't available on iPad.
Below is what AI said:

This is something easily remedied by Adobe and most certainly wouldn't take a week or more to fix, alternatively why not just roll back the mobile app? Instead what you've put in place of the mobile app is one only compatible with web access, which makes zero sense for what is supposed to be for an IOS mobile app. I can't speak for everyone else but I'm rapidly reaching my limit of patience with Adobe. I have my records of payments for my subscription along with the evidence of continued lack of response from Adobe to my attempts to speak with anyone in technical/engineering support or customer service. Seeing as I've done everything I possibly could in order to obtain even the minimum of customer support, service or response and receiving none of the promised contact of support I'm left with no other option or choice but to explore my options in order to obtain the appropriate corrective justice. Fix the problem Adobe.

I have the exact same problem, photoshop no longer opening on iPad Pro. Have a paid photography subscription package, I expect communication from Adobe about the issue and when or how it will be resolved.

Adobe is not going to respond. The phone appointments you set with them will not happen, they simply will not call. I've been experiencing this now over a week and since I can no longer do my work on Photoshop I've spent a great deal of time researching this issue. For example check your subscriptions on Apple, you'll see the one for Photoshop is no longer there. Most likely if you check your Adobe account, you'll see you no longer have Photoshop activated. You may even see where you once a had a certain number of mobile access apps, they’re now gone having been replaced with web access apps. Adobe doesn't feel this particular group of users (IOS/mobile) are as important as say the Enterprise groups. I can almost guarantee that anything preventing the Enterprise group from using their version of Adobe Photoshop would be addressed by Adobe within a maximum of 48 hours. My suggestion is to bombard Adobe with  facts such as these but of your own, and get as many others who are experiencing this same issue to do the same. While Adobe used to be a very customer oriented company with great customer service it's simply not any longer and will only respond to the numbers. Best of luck.

It's ridiculous that it's taking so long to correct. Maybe if we all rate it 1 star in the App Store they will do something about it.

Sure it's a bug... it's a bug Adobe has been aware of over a week now going on two. The problem is when they compiled their new release on 6/3/25  code with ARM64 instructions which aren't supported by older iPad models using A10 processors. They did that without considering just how many people were still using A10 processor iPads. Tell me they didn't know this before releasing that update... no really tell me. Here's what I think will happen, A. Adobe will continue to ignore those paying subscribers of us out here, who have been begging for a fix to this problem, hoping we'll just go away or we'll break down and buy products that work with their most recent release.
B. Adobe will claim now that they've discovered why the new release isn't working and due to XYZ excuses there's nothing they can do therefore they'll have to change the minimum standards for which their software will work, adding less than believable apologies for the inconvenience, blah, blah, blah.

In the end I no longer believe Adobe will ever do anything to fix this for those using A10 processor iPads. I've given Adobe every chance when I've set up technical support phone appointments and they have not called either time for two separate appointments. I've spent countless hours on the phone with customer service only to have about 6 calls mysteriously disconnected when waiting for a reply or something they went to check on. Adobe is not the company I began using products of 25 years ago and that's a real shame.

I have done this several times and STILL, Photoshop opens for less than a second, and immediately closes. Some in this thread have already pointed out that the issue seems to be with the application itself so this seems like a fruitless fix.

@Anshul_Saini - It's not an option to update to iOS 18 on my iPad. However, Apple still supports iOS 17.7.8. Maybe the following information is useful.

@Froig - The problem has been replicated over 100 times judging from the number of responses in this thread. Just saying.

Crash Summary

  • Crash Reason: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL)

  • Signal: Illegal instruction: 4

  • Faulting Thread: Thread 0 (Main Thread)

  • Exception Description:
    The app tried to execute an invalid or undefined CPU instruction.

  • ESR (Exception Syndrome Register): 0x02000000 → Address size fault, usually occurs due to access or instruction fetch from an invalid memory address or alignment issue.

Likely Cause

The crash occurred during app startup, specifically in the dynamic linker (dyld4) while running initializers:

cpp

dyld4::Loader::findAndRunAllInitializers()
dyld3::MachOAnalyzer::forEachInitializer()
dyld4::PrebuiltLoader::runInitializers()

This points to an issue during the loading or initialization of a library or framework, possibly a corrupt binary, invalid symbol, or miscompiled library.

Critical Exception Indicators

  • "signal":"SIGILL" → Illegal instruction, usually from corrupted code or misalignment.

  • "esr":{"value":33554432,"description":"Address size fault"} → Instruction or data fetch from invalid memory address.

  • "termination":{"indicator":"Illegal instruction: 4","byProc":"exc handler"} → OS terminated the app due to CPU instruction violation.
