This issue should be fixed by the 22.5.1 update which was released yesterday.

I have 6040MB of RAM available and 41.94GB available on the scratch disc - how do those numbers sound?

gotta say, I feel like I'm paying for beta experience when I should be working on my photos focusing my attention to my clients and my business.

extremely disappointed

(with many grpahic langauges I can't write here)

I was happy to see my liquify filter's initial mouse lag gone with 22.5

(mouse lags except when I exit liquify with hand, zoom, face, and open liquify again with those tools selected)

but this is something I can't work with.

my editing photos require a lot of selection and 2-5 sec delay everytime i make selection is crippling my work.

I just reverted to 22.4.3 and liquify filter's lag is back but this issue is gone so...back to where I was...

Dear Adobe support staff,

While in Photoshop, I use the Magic Wand and Lasso tool predominantly in my work. For the last few days there has been a noticeable lag after I make a selection. Just a second or two but it is slowing down my productivity and has become extremely frustrating. Is this a bug due to an update? Can I fix it myself?

Please help,

Alex

Try trashing your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings. Can't hurt, may help.

Buenas tardes,

I'm having the same issues: the selection tool and the magic wand have become very slow. I tried fiddling with the performance settings without any luck.

Hopeing for a fix soon; it's unusable in this state.

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop while using the selection tools. This is a known issue & our product team has logged it as a bug. They are currently working on a fix for it.

If you wish, you can roll back to the previous version of Photoshop (22.4.3) using the steps suggested here: https://adobe.ly/2wH0JjE

Please uninstall the latest version of Photoshop first & select the option to Keep Preferences prior to installing the previous version.

Regards,

Nikunj

This is also happening to me on my M1 mac. It does not matter how big the file is. Whether a very small file or a very large file, the magic wand tool has about a 2 second lag. I noticed that this started happening to me after updating to Big Sur 11.5.2

I have tried trashing my preferences, changing a variety of performance settings, restarting the computer, and even uninstalling and reinstalling photoshop. Nothing fixes it.

I did find this other thread, seems like a common problem:

I just reverted back to Photoshop 22.4.3 and the problem went away.  So it's definitely a bug with Photoshop 22.5
