It turns out you can actually revert to previous versions using the Creative Cloud app. Open "Adobe Creative Cloud" in your applications (or it may be running in the background as an "infinity"-ish looking icon in your top-right toolbar), on your "Installed Apps" click on the "..." next to Photoshop and it should give you the option of "Other Versions", just downgrade. I think it will cost you any customizations you've made on the new version if you've made any, but other than that it's pretty smooth. I did it last week and it worked great.

If anyone needs step-by-steps on how to do this, you can follow the link Nikunj posted earlier in this thread:

@nikunj.m wrote on 27 August:

If you wish, you can roll back to the previous version of Photoshop (22.4.3) using the steps suggested here: https://adobe.ly/2wH0JjE

Please uninstall the latest version of Photoshop first & select the option to Keep Preferences prior to installing the previous version.

Operating System

Mac OS Big Sur 11.5.2

Model Name: Mac mini

  Model Identifier: Macmini9,1

  Chip: Apple M1

Total Number of Cores: 8 (4 performance and 4 efficiency)

  Memory: 16 GB

  SSD Disk: 500 GB

It takes 2-3 seconds to apply the selection even on a 100x100px image that I create from scratch applying just one brush stroke.

This didn't happen in previous versions.

It was quite embarrassing when I show the retouching process by using the patch tool in front of my clients.
It keeps showing about 1.5 seconds delaying between sampling and patching.
After clients are gone, I reinstalled the last version, then it works as it should be.
Furthermore, I never felt that Br, PS, and LR on my new M1 Imac run faster or smoother than does on my old intel mac. Just wonder how other photographers or photo editors think of this issue, 'running Abobe image editing programs on M1 Imac".

Same issue on Macbook Pro M1 2020 running Big Sur 11.2.3 16gb

Only started after update to 22.5.0.

One of those moments where you realize how long 2-3 seconds really is...

Commenting and following this discussion in case there is a solve. 🤞🏻

Also have been running PS in "Rosetta" since there was no "export to video" option in Native mode after upgrading to the M1. Turned that off and the lag in selection/lasso/wand tools was the same.

Bonjour,

Merci !

Same issue for me with the healing brush tool. Very serious issues.

Mac Big Sur 11.5.1

PS 22.5.0

Mac Pro 2013 model with 64GB RAM and two 32GM D700 graphics cards

Very serious lag on healing brush tool. It finishes, but leaves the grey brush area and doesn't show a change. Have to use space bar zoom in and out to get an image refresh.

We are still getting the crashes even after rolling back and trying several previous versions. Have gone back as far as we can to 22.0.

This is a very serious issue causing delays in student work.  Can you please offer any other suggestions? What is a good known stable version and how easy will it be to deploy to 20 workstations?

Just got my M1 Macbook air updated to 11.5.2, immediately found that Patch Tool slowing down drastically.

Before update : Selected area turns marching ant immediately.

Updated (11.5.2) : Take ~2 seconds to turn to marching ant, mean i need to wait for 2 seconds to have a preview of targeted area.

New update slowing down my work flow tremendously as i work on skin retouching, does anyone has a solution or experience the same issue ?
